Deck of cards

Begin with discussion of why parental/home support is

important for student success and discuss problems that
arise in a classroom when children have minimal support
outside of it. (5 minutes)
Split class into 6 groups of 3 (2 minutes) and have them
discuss three strategies they could use in a classroom to
assist the student in the case (8 minutes). Each of us walk
around to facilitate conversation. If extra time, jigsaw.
A person from a group is chosen by having mini football
thrown at them, they then share what their group came up
with (5 minutes). Any questions? If this takes less than 5
minutes, we share strategies we came up with for each case.
