HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH HOSTS FREE CONCERT AT THE

UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA

Sept. 21, 2009— Gainesville, Fl.— Hispanic music acts R.K.M. y

Ken-Y and Anthony y La Makina will perform a free concert on the
University of Florida campus on Oct. 3. The event, which will
take place at 7 pm on Flavet Field, is co-sponsored by UF’s
Student Government Productions and the Hispanic Student
Association.

The concert is part of a series of events honoring Hispanic

Heritage Month, which is held nationwide from Sept. 15 to Oct.
15 annually. UF’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration is the
largest college-run event of its kind in the U.S. Other
scheduled activities include a comedy show, a soccer tournament
and a pageant.

Performing artists R.K.M. y Ken-Y are a reggaeton duo from

Puerto Rico. Their second studio album, The Royalty, received a
nomination for Best Latin Urban Album at the 2009 Grammy Awards.
Anthony y La Makina are a somewhat older merengue group, which
Hispanic Heritage Month Director Anaili Triana hopes will appeal
to and attract not only UF students but Hispanic residents in
the Gainesville area.

“R.K.M. y Ken-Y is the biggest act we have ever hosted,” Triana
says. “I’m excited to see the turnout and hope that this event
appeals to not just Hispanic students but the student body as a
whole as well as the community.”
