Description of how to implement in the class: This Quizlet activity would be an excellent homework follow-up to
an in-class discussion on laboratory safety. Students will work through flashcards individually and at their own pace.
The quizlet will provide scenarios in a chemistry lab setting. Students will ascertain what type of safety equipment they
would require, should they be performing the described experiment, and/or how they should respond to a spill or
hazard. This exercise will offer students further understanding of laboratory protocols, and the continued practice of
the flash cards will also help them to remember safety topics and procedures. After completion of the homework, the
students can provide feedback on areas they need further instruction on. The teacher then can mold further
discussions to concentrate on weak areas and feel confident that students are familiar with safety practices.
