Claitor and Edwards to March the Capitol with Students
(Baton Rouge, LA) - LSU students announced today that Senator Dan Claitor and Gubernatorial Candidate John Bel Edwards will attend that Make the Change rally and are expected to speak at the event. The rally is meant to bring awareness about budget cuts to higher education and to allow students a chance to tell their legislatures what they think about the cuts. We dont want to be a spectacle or seen as a group of angry college students. At the core of everything, we are concerned citizens. We see the potential loss that LSU and the entire state could face by cutting higher education. This is our chance to voice that, said Andrew Mahtook, LSU Student Government President-Elect. The theme of the rally is Make the Change, reflecting the idea of working with the legislature to protect Louisiana colleges and universities in the budget crisis. The Make the Change rally will march on the Capitol on Thursday, April 30, 2015. Students and supporters will meet at A.Z. Young Park next to the Pentagon at 12:30 pm. The march to the steps at the Capitol will begin at 1:00 pm. LSU students in conjunction with LSU Alumni organized the rally. Marchers are encouraged to bring signs and wear purple and gold. While the rally is aimed at LSU students, all concerned students are invited to attend. ### Contact: Kira Schuette makethechangelsu@gmail.com 504-250-4507
