BE POSITIVE!
Your attitude will greatly affect your
childs feelings about school. Share a
loving hug and offer an encouraging
thought as you drop-off each morning.
Lingering demonstrates uncertainty and
plants seeds of worry. Know your child will
be safe and loved while at school.
BE RESPECTFUL.
Your respect for classroom procedures and
rules will help your child develop an
appreciation and respect for them, too.
BE RESPONSIVE.
Transitions create diverse feelings even
for adults. Take time and give attention to
recognize your childs feelings. Share
personal feelings regarding your own
experiences.
BE INQUISITIVE.
Take an interest in their learning
experiences. Ask questions about their day
and new friendships that may be
developing.
BE ENCOURAGING.
Arrange play dates with new friends to
promote healthy friendships. Balance play
dates to include peers who speak your
childs mother tongue as well as those who
speak English.
Develop independence and responsibility
through encouraging children to dress
themselves, take care of their belongings
and tidy up their toys.
