Steps For Number Portability process

#1. First, obtain an 8 digit unique porting code (UPC) by sending an SMS PORT <mobile number>
to 1900
#2. Approach new operator, give your UPC ,fill up required forms and submit identity proof
#3. Await SMS from new operator about initiating porting. Number may remain inactive for 2-3
hours
#4. After Three hours you can switch to the new operators SIM
#5. Entire Process should not take more than 5-6 days
Important guidelines:
- For prepaid subscribers, balance amount/talk time would not be carried forward to new operator
- Post-Paid subscribers should clear all dues, else porting request may be rejected
- You can port a number from CDMA to GSM or GSM to CDMA
- Porting Allowed only once in 90 days
