Assignment 3: Protocol at MAC Layer
(to be submitted by 30th September 2013)
Choose a Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol to simulate from the following:
persistent CSMA, non-persistent CSMA, p-persistent CSMA and CSMA/CD. The
MAC protocol simulator should emphasize:
for stations: their status at each step idle or transmitting (with possibly
two sub-states corresponding to whether a station is sure its transmission
seized the channel or the station is transmitting but it is possible to hear a
collision and hence interrupt transmission; note that NOT all protocols can
do this; CSMA/CD can), how many frames were transmitted, how many
retransmitted;
for the channel: its status at each step (successful transmission, collision,
idle);
the simulation should be run for several steps, to see its evolution
