From my survey that I posted here a few weeks ago and after handing out the papers to my
classmates, I have put together the answers and found some interesting results.
Firstly, the majority of people understood the basics of deforestation cutting down trees/clearing
land of trees. I had one person openly state that they did not know what deforestation was,
however some who did know what deforestation was went into more detail with their answers
including information such as animals lose their homes and it caused more carbon dioxide to be in
the air.
Below you will see graphed results of the multiple choice questions, it was interesting to see what
people did know about the issue and how they think we can make changes.

People also thought we could help gorillas by planting the trees back to regrow their habitat,
changing peoples mindsets on environmental changes and stop logging.
Prior to presenting my survey to my class, I spoke to them about deforestation and what I had learnt
so far from my project, I showed them my blog and talked about how gorillas are being affected by
deforestation.
My teacher, Miss J, liked my presentation so much that I received the class Merit Award for the
week! Its easy to talk about a subject when you are interested in it and really want to help make a
change.
Thank you to everyone who took part in my survey, your help has been awesome.
