Resumo:Este artigo procura discutir a importncia do estudo da Histria Antiga e das moedas
como valiosas fontes para a pesquisa historiogrfica e para o ensino de Histria. Para isto, utilizo,
como exemplo, as moedas de Diocleciano e Constantino, personagens do Antigo Imprio Romano,
ambas pertencentes ao acervo do Museu Histrico Nacional.

Abstract: This article discusses the importance of the study of Old History and coins as valuable
sources for the historiographical research and for the teaching of History. For that, I use, as an
example, the coins of Diocletian and Constantine (characters of the Old Roman Empire), both
belonging to the collection of the National Historical Museum.
