Research Proposal
The question I would like to ask is How did World War II impact amateur radio
operators?
The primary purpose of this project will be to explore the world of amateur radio during
World War II. Essentially, I would like to know the state of the amateur radio world before,
during, and after the war. I would like to know if the war moved the technologies forward, or set
them back. I would also be interested to know if the majority of radio hams volunteered their
time and knowledge to the war effort, or if it was conscripted. Were there factions of rebellious
operators, or any other such controversies? Are any major breakthroughs in radio technology to
be attributed exclusively to the war?
I cant say that I come into this project with too much previous knowledge on the topic.
Everything fascinates me, and this is one of those things that caught my attention, and made me
want to know more. If anything, I would say that I see radio operators as a faction of people who
just want to help out, and are very enthusiastic about their craft.
