. Alegorija uvek upuuje na neto drugo, na ono
to joj je prethodilo; ona uvodi inilac vremena kao presudan, odnosno
otkriva vreme kao presudno, nesvodljivo, neuklonjivo. Alegorizacija
u tumaenju predstavlja postupak sinhronizacije, kontemporalnosti,
dodavanja vremena, sa-vremenjivanja kao inioca razumevanja
ili itanja koji se ne moe svesti na identitet istih trenutaka.18

Allegory
Summary
In view of the title of the section containing this text TERMINOLOGICAL
GUIDE this paper aims to provide a basic overview of the issues connected with
the term allegory.
In the first part of the paper, we deal with the terminological designations of
allegory from the era of antiquity to the present day. First of all, a distinction is made
between designating allegory as a stylistic device, that is, as a rhetorical term, on the
one hand, and allegory as an interpretive method, that is, hermeneutic practice, on
the other. We also deal with those rare instances of the use of the term allegory to
designate a literary genre.
In the second part of the paper, through a general overview of the terms most
often mentioned in theory in connection with this figure, we try to point to the nature
of allegory. Emphasis is laid on ambiguity, didacticism, apologetic character, narrativity, enigmatic nature. In particular, we point out the importance of the context
for the realisation of the allegorical potential of a particular text.
