Entry 3: Differentiating Instruction through Technology

Introduction
Differentiating Instruction through Technology is an important part of a comprehensive
classroom technology plan. This is due to students learning ability and it helps the teacher access
information about the students. Knowing how to assess the students information and using
diverse technology is a unique way to accomplish this goal. This is one of the most promptly
and knowledgeable ways that has been introduced to the educational field in the last few
centuries. Technology to differentiate improves performance when the application provides
opportunities for student collaboration, application is integrated into a typical instructional day,
and when used in environments where teachers and school community district administrators
support the use of technology.

Technology To Differentiate Instruction

Power My Learning: This tool is used to make learning to fit each student. PowerMyLearning
can be used in and outside of school. Its easy and it minimizes the extreme work that it would
take to research using free activity on the Web. It consist of academic games, videos, other
interactive content and is associated and distinquishly set aside by subject, grade, Common Core
Standard and much, much, more for students learning needs. According to the ISTE Standards
for Students it is critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making. It use multiple
processes and diverse perspectives to explore alternative solutions.
Gummii: This tool would be used to differentiate instruction by using a game-based math
learning system that will build students, motivate, and help them to adapt to their own individual
learning needs. The impact that this tool has on students achievement is great. Students think
that this is a game but in reality it is actually math. The impact is so great that parents involve
students with gaming/learning experiences. There is an illusion dimension for students in a 3D
to solve math. Students are different and students learn in different ways. Gummii has the
ability to sense to determine that students need to be presented in a variety of ways that students
can explore and grab them into whatever order that they feel is right for them. It is studentcentered because it is for student to have a variety of ways to learn. This tool is Creativity and
Innovation for it demonstrates creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative
products and processes using technology.
No Red Ink: This tool would be used to differentiate instruction to improve a students
grammar and writing skills. The impact this tool has on a students achievement is that most
students find grammar and writing not to interesting. It is student centered according to No Red
Ink by creating a system to capture the interest of students and to motivate them. TV shows and

hobbies has an impact on student achievement and this is why this tool is student centered. The
differentiate instruction is adjusting questions of what the students get right/wrong and
narrowing it down to the underlying misconceptions. It provides adequacy for teachers to
provide assignments and quizzes that are generated according to each students interest. There is
a color coded heat map feature that help teachers, students and administrators to see the
progress for each student. Educators can also view students homework and quiz scores.
According to the ISTE Standards for Teachers it is to facilitate and inspire student learning and
creativity. Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter teaching and learning and technology
to facilitate experiences that advance students learning, creativity, and innovation in both faceto-face and virtual environments.
Pros and Cons (150-250 words)
(Explain the pros and cons of using technology to differentiate instruction. Be sure to
justify rationale with research.)There are many Pros and Cons to differentiate instructions. One
Pro is that it is a way to teach that look at each individual student in the classroom. Others
Pros is that, it customize ways for each student to learn at his/her own paste and ability with
instruction to do so. This decreases the tradition way of teaching and brings it into another
strategy to teach in the classroom. This opens the door to bring in different tools for different
learning styles and different personalities. Each child is taught to their learning style, each
student has an individualized learning plan, the teacher has creativity, No Child Left Behind,
and there is flexibility. The Cons of differentiate Instruction is that there is a tougher work
load for teacher, time constraints, children learn at different paces that make cause the entire
class to be held back, and a lack of schedule. Some teacher dont function well without a rigid
schedule to stick to.

Concluding Paragraph (4-6 sentences)

(A solid academic paper always ends with a conclusion to summarize what was discussed in
the paper and why it is important. This should be in your own words with no citations.)In my
conclusion I find that Differentiating Instruction through Technology is gaining more and more
in the classroom. For in this 21st century of Technology according to the pace of society and
classroom learners teachers have a demand for differentiate instruction. Families have
computers in the homes and some students are more advanced than others because of the
technology that they have been exposed to. Some of the older generation is just now hopping on
the band wagon where students in kindergartner is learning about computers and are more
advanced. Schools/educators are moving a rapid pace due to classrooms and what is needed at
an urgency for instruction on how to prepare students for this present time of technology and
how to strategies to instruct and educate students for the future.
