My Adventure
This year taking English 1S and 1T has been an amazing adventure for my English
comprehension in college. I feel like I have grown very well taking this course with Professor
Valerie Fong. What I have achieved being in English 1S/1T was being able to have a class that
everyone was able to discuss to each other in a relaxed manner as if we were a family. I was able
to communicate and interact with my fellow classmates and students here at Foothill than in
other classes I have had so far. What I have also achieve being in English 1S/1T so far is improve
my grammar. In my past English classes so far in my educational timeline. I feel that they
werent as hands on with me, which I learn best at, where as I have learned so much more taught
by Professor Fong. She allowed me to express my ideas in each essay and in return she was able
to see the potential I have to becoming a better writer. My experience here at Foothill College
has been a rough start from doing poorly in my first quarter here, however to come into the
second quarter with the right mindset and then third quarter using the help Foothill provides here.
Institutional learning objectives I have learned from Foothill College is communication. My
second quarter I was able to really discuss with a counselor my goals to transfer. I showed my
ability to work with technology in English 1S/1T with my website layout, it also shows my
creativity on designing my website. I also have achieved respect from other students that go to
Foothill with group discussion in class. What I anticipate for my next steps for growth and

development here at Foothill College is really dedicate myself into my education and be able to
transfer out.
English 1S/1T has taught me many things and has allowed me to grow as an individual
and student here at Foothill College. In this class I was able to interact with others and
acknowledge them with confidence. This photo shows some work that I have done with a

assignment Henry
and I were
supposed to
analyze a photo from a famous first African-American photographer Gordon Parks. We discussed
how the photo connected to the book and how it was interesting to see that Gordon Parks was
able to show us a visual aspect of life during the time he lived. Henry also was the first friend I
had made in this class, but he was not the only classmate that I interacted with. I worked with all
of my classmates. What I also achieved during my time in English 1S/1T is improving my
grammar. This quarter I learned how to take the opportunity at the TLC center, who helped me
improve on some of my grammar.
My experience so far at Foothill College has been amazing from a difficult time adapting
to college my first quarter to improving and showing more dedication towards my education.
What I have learned being at Foothill so far is all you need to do is ask for help when you truly
need it. I was able to talk to my counselors and teachers to have a better understanding and goal

for college. An example my education plan that counselor Lan Troung, Tilly Wu, and Tobias.
They helped set a goal for me and classes that I needed to transfer and get an AA in Business
Administration. The institutional learning objectives I have learned so far my time at Foothill
College is speaking skills in discussions with other students. An example was in English 1S/1T I
discuss among my classmates the topic of police brutality and we are able to agree and disagree
on the topic. What I also have achieved in technology skills with such as the use of an online
website and correctly use it, it also displays my creativity to layout the website to be more
interesting to look at. I also have cultural awareness by going to the events held by the cultural
clubs and respect their free expression to show their love of being a part of that culture. My time
here at Foothill has been a great learning experiencing.
My next step for growth and development as I leave the pathway is used all the resources
given to me to become successful. What I also plan on doing is what I have learned so far from
English 1S/1T is integrate it into my next English class I will have to take. I plan on getting my
AA in Business Administration and to transfer out hopefully to San Diego State University. Once
I get into San Diego State University I pan on getting my Bachelors degree in Business
marketing. I will focus more and dedicate myself to my studies more now that I have my goal
set. I will also try to keep in contact with Professor Valerie Fong because she has improved my
English more than any of my English teachers that I had in my educational timeline.
This adventure here at Foothill College has been really interesting and amazing as I
slowly transition from a high school student to a college student. In English 1S/1T I have
achieved how to collaborate with others and make new friends. What I also achieved is
improving my grammar. My education timeline shows a big improvement in myself as a student
and individual. I have engaged with fellow students and experience an amazing first year of

college. I was able to show my ability to use technology and display my creativity to my
professors and classmates. I was also able to see other cultures and discuss with other students
here. I would like to thank my English 1S/1T professor for believing in me and pushing me to do
better. From this point on I will try my hardest to improve myself as an individual and college
student.
