The cricifixion has been the symbol of our faith as Christians. We adore a Christ who appears to be helpless and hopeless on the cross. For us Christians, we see in Jesus hanging on the cross the indefatigable and unfathomable love of God for us. Before the cross was a sign of death and hopelessness, now the cross becomes a symbol of love. Before it was a sign of defeat, now it becomes a sign of victory over sin and death. Clearly, Jesus gave new meaning to suffering on the cross. Jesus is a living reminder that we have a God who is loving, caring, and merciful. I have read a scripture from Philippians 2: 6-8 saying that even thougj Jesus was in a form of God, he made Himself a servant born in the likeness of men. Being found in human form, Jesus humbled himself by becoming obedient to the will of our Lord to the end as He fulfilled His mission. Like what Jesus did we must be completely committed to the mission that God gave us. And we must be prepared to give all that we got to God. This doesn't mean that we should die, though some did like San Loremzo Ruiz, we may fulfill our mission which is spreading the "Good News of God's love" in our own little ways.
