Greetings, Gentlemen:

I hope this letter finds you well

At this time I would like to update you on our Cal XI Alumni Association of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. However,
before I do that, I would like you to reflect back on that Royal Purple & Old Gold road you ventured on as a
young man.
Think about your experience: pledging the house, your initiation day, becoming a junior active, and developing
into a full brother with unique experiences, new responsibilities and the close bonding you share with your
brothers.
Those lifelong friendships that were fundamentally developed by the Fraternity were developed because of the
Fraternity.
So I ask you, Brother, please give something back in return. It can be a simple, modest donation to the alumni
dues, a donation to the scholarships that we provide to the undergraduates, or the annual alumni bringing an
active to our annual Alumni Active Holiday Lunch. Or better yet, show up and be seen make an event.
Again, to revisit our vision, it has been my goal to guide this association and create a benefit for each and
every one of you: to develop social and business relationships.
However, more important than those networking opportunities, is the genuine quest to guide our young undergraduates in our newly re-established chapter. I find that the responsibilities, activities and commitments have
grown as we continue to grow. Thankfully, we are truly fortunate to have a core group of hero brothers who
have helped us achieve a lot with a little. And this year its time for us to take another step in meeting all of our
goals and objectives.
To recap, last year we were able to: Again, send students to the various Leadership Schools, Funding Two
Actives individual $500.00 scholarships and guide them through their rush , We had a very nice showing at
the annual barbecue at the Van Attenhovens, a fun-filled day of tailgating in the fall at a Hornets football game.
Best of all the Hornets had a Pac 12 game at Cal and we had a great event at the Berkeley SAE house! It was
great to see people we havent seen in years, and it really did make a difference.
On the horizon, there are several upcoming events: Our annual barbecue will take place on Saturday, September 26th, from 4-8 p.m. at the Lindquists, In the fall, our chapter-sponsored football homecoming tailgate
party takes place on Saturday, October 24th. And finally, to round out the year, we will have our annual Alumni
Active Holiday Luncheon on Thursday, December 3rd in down town Sacramento. And remember to save the
date for Saturday, March 5, 2015, for our Founders Day Dinner.
In addition, the Alumni Association would like to send a special Phi Alpha out to two brothers from Sonoma
State. Damon Hirschenson and Martin (Ace) Vindiola have been mentoring the colony for the last few years.
Their hard work and dedication to the education and growth of the colony is an example of what brotherhood
is all about. Our alumni association is grateful to you both! I also want to personally thank Jimmy Bonilla are
chaptered advisor for being such a hero brother. Without Jim's leadership, guidance and tireless efforts we
would not be where we are today. ..Thanks again Jim!
Fraternally yours,
Phi Alpha!

his obscurity
Whatever the task may be, the brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon are up to the challenge. The SAE Cal
Xi organization has remained, and will continue to remain, subservient of our community and fellow
man. Organizing fundraising events, collaborating with other organizations, and creating leadership
opportunities from within keep our organization flourishing and in favor of the public eye. The brothers
have organized and contributed to events such as: Kickin it with SAE Kickball tournament, fundraising
event, CSU Sacramento Earth Day, Greek Week, and our annual brotherhood retreat. These events are
a testament to the service and leadership our organization strives to uphold and represent. The Brothers
of Sigma Alpha Epsilon CAL XI are a diverse group of individuals whose sole purpose is to encourage
and support their fellow man in academic, extracurricular, and community events. SAE will continue to
be a contributing and influential factor in Greek life, as well as community involvement in the Sacramento
area.

SAE GIVES BACK

SAE Sacramento has continued to be an integral part of the community providing volunteer, philanthropy,
and educational opportunities for our fellow man; as well as contributors and supporters of the brother
of Sigma Alpha Epsilon alike. SAE has raised donations on behalf of the Childrens Miracle Network
and other organizations within the community. Sigma Alpha Epsilon has contributed to assisting the
Sacramento Zoo, Sacramento State, as well as organizations and groups pertaining to the Greek Community, as well as within the Sacramento Area.

FUTURE GOALS ASPIRATIONS

The future of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Cal XI colony remains brighter and stronger than ever. With sights on
chartering and becoming a recognized chapter, the men of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Cal XI have taken the
responsibility upon themselves to become a functioning, productive, and beneficial piece of the Sacramento Greek, Academic, and Public community. We would like to take the time to thank our Sacramento
and outlying alumni for guidance and support as we venture into Chartership and the next chapter of
our establishment. Phi Alpha!

MESSAGE FROM THE CAL XI CHAPTER ADVISOR

- JIM BONILLA
Brothers,
Its been a long journey so far and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Colony has reached new highs as the
number of members has now risen to 36. Grades continue to be on the upswing as strict guidelines
have been implemented to help raise our overall GPA. Hopefully, with good grades at the end of this semester and numbers next spring hoping to reach the 50 mark, we should establish ourselves as a new
chapter.
The group is in its final push for chartering and is currently in the process of attempting to send 5 members
to John OMosley Leadership School, which will be held in the Caribbean as it is being held on a cruise
ship. SAE National is picking up the cost for one member. The cost for each member to attend the school
for the week is $600 per person. This cost will cover most of the expenses on the trip however, each individual also needs to pay for travel expenses enroute to the ship and back home.
The Sacramento State Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Alumni Association has always supported the
colony members and continues to provide the current group with real life working opportunities. The
Sacramento Alumni have hired several of the colony members to perform various tasks and jobs. These
real life opportunities provide the kind of leadership that our founding fathers had in mind when our
group was founded way back in 1856. In our continued effort to assist these young men into becoming
outstanding men in our community and in an effort to educate them through our John OMosley leadership
School, I ask that you join me in a fundraising effort to help with the registration cost for the school for 4
of the 5 young men.
Please feel free to forward this email to any and all brothers who are within our reach. Please
include your 2015 annual dues for the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Sacramento State Alumni Association ($50).
