6/30/15 Listen to the Music Documentation Listen to the Music was an honors seminar that was offered during the second semester of my freshman year at the University of Cincinnati. This class was taught in a traditional classroom setting in Emery Hall Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:10 to 11:05. This course was lectured by Erik Paffet and the students were freshman honors students from a wide range of majors. One of the outcomes of this honors seminar was to take a look back on the various different style periods that music has went through over the last few centuries and see how the art form has evolved. I chose to engage in this experience because listening to different types of music is one of my hobbies that I am passionate about. This course exceeded my expectations because not only did I get to listen to classical music, but I also learned some of the more technical aspects of music like pitch, harmony, and scoring. This experience was meaningful because it taught me some of the basic concepts of music that I was not aware of and introduced me to music that I had never heard before previously. I can now apply some of the things I learned in class to possibly making music as a hobby of mine in the future.
