reliable deepwater single-trip perforating and gravel-packing system available today. This system permits completion of multiple zones in one trip, can be used in multilateral completions and incorporates intelligent completion design. The QUANTUM PERFPAC system improves production by minimizing fluid losses to the formation without use of a potentially damaging, lost circulation-material pill. The QUANTUM PERFPAC system opens up a whole new arena for deepwater single-trip completions. It is the next generation of the single-trip perforating and sand-control technology that has proved effective at water depths greater than 3500 ft [1067 mm] and in wells with more than 55 deviation. As of mid-April 2000, this deepwater QUANTUM PERFPAC technology had been used in 16 applications in the Gulf of Mexico, west Africa and Brazil. Wells have been successfully completed with this system under conditions as diverse as deviation exceeding 80, an overbalance of 2500 psi [172 bar] and fluid losses as high as 400 bbl/hr. The QUANTUM PERFPAC system is an intelligent, single-trip, tubing-conveyed perforating and testing system. It can gather data in real time using either the live annulus or DataLatch* recorder/transmitter, yet it provides the same flexibility as a conventional shoot-and-pull gravel-pack completion. QUANTUM PERFPAC system capabilities also include extreme overbalanced perforating, zonal isolation and multizone sandcontrol treatments using the AllPAC/AllFRAC system in conjunction with multizone packers. In addition, this system incorporated the unique fullbore setdown system that made single-trip deepwater completion operations viable.
