RANGERS ACQUIRE FORWARD EMERSON ETEM

Blueshirts also acquire 41st overall selection in 2015 NHL Entry Draft;
Trade Carl Hagelin and two draft picks to Anaheim
NEW YORK, July 1, 2015 New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen
Sather announced today that the team has acquired forward Emerson Etem and a secondround draft pick (41st overall) from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Carl Hagelin, a
second-round draft pick (59th overall) and a sixth-round draft pick (179th overall) in the
2015 NHL Entry Draft.
This season Etem, 23, split his time between the Anaheim Ducks and the Norfolk
Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL). In 45 games with Anaheim, he recorded
five goals and five assists for a total of 10 points this season, along with four penalty
minutes. All 10 of his points during the 2014-2015 season were scored at even strength.
Etem tied his single-game NHL career-highs with two assists and two points on Nov. 16
vs. Florida. He skated in his 100th career NHL game on Mar. 1 against the Dallas Stars.
Etem, a 6-1, 212-pound winger, appeared in 12 playoff games for the Ducks this
year. He registered three goals and posted a plus-1 rating in the 2015 Stanley Cup
Playoffs. He established career highs in games played and shots (23), and tied his playoff
career-high in goals scored. His three even-strength goals were tied for fifth on Anaheim.
In 22 regular-season games with Norfolk, Etem registered 13 goals and eight
assists for 21 points and was assessed two penalty minutes. This season, Etem had seven
multi-point games with Norfolk. He had a three-game goal-scoring streak from Jan. 24
against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to Jan. 31 against Binghamton, which included a hat trick
at Binghamton on Jan. 30.
In 112 career NHL games over parts three seasons, Etem has recorded 15 goals, 16
assists and 31 points and has posted a plus-four rating. Etem registered his first NHL goal
on Mar. 18, 2013, in a 5-3 win over the San Jose Sharks. He scored his first career playoff
goal on May 4, 2013, against the Detroit Red Wings and has since registered a total of six
goals, two assists and eight points in 23 playoff games.
Etem, a native of Long Beach, California, has represented the United States in a
number of international tournaments, most recently in the 2012 IIHF World Junior
Championship, where he tallied four assists/points. He also helped Team USA win a
bronze medal at the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Etem was originally selected by Anaheim in the first round, 29th overall, of the
2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Hagelin, 26, registered 58 goals and 72 assists for 130 points in 266 regular season
games over parts of four seasons with the Rangers.
