Stage 3 Learning Plan

Learning Activities:
Session 1

Effective integration of technology into the curriculum is necessary for today's students. They
have grown up with technology and expect it to be a part of their everyday lives to include the
learning process (Morgan, 2014). The articles below provide more information on integrating
technology into the classroom and how to make it effective for the students. In addition, the
videos show examples of flipped classrooms and technology integration.
As you read the articles and watch the videos think about how you can use some of the examples
provided to help students become better readers.
After reading the articles and watching the videos, answer these questions in the forum below:
1. Why is it important to effectively integrate technology in the reading classroom?
2. Describe one effective reading technology tool you have used in the past.
3. Choose one new tool you want to try and integrate it into a lesson plan. After using it, provide
feedback in the forum below about how you used it, how the students felt about the use of it, and
if you felt it was an effective tool to improve students reading comprehension (why or why not).
Session 2
As we continue to read and review the use of technology in the reading classroom, we need to
remember that technology is a tool. The effectiveness of the tool is determined by how it is used,
and the pedagogy in the planning of its used.
Review the resources below and think about how you would plan to use these tools so they
would be engaging to students and help improve their reading skills.
After reviewing the resources:
1. Choose a new technology tool or Web 2.0 tool from the resources below or one that you have
found to use in your next reading lesson. Use the forum below to describe which tool you used,
how you used it, and how effective it was for you and your students. Would you use this tool
again, why or why not? If you would, what changes would you make?
2. Do some research and find a Web 2.0 or web-based reading tool to recommend to others.
Provide a link to the tool and a brief description of the tool in the forum below.
Session 3
In Session 3 we will continue to explore the use of Web 2.0 tools that can be used in the reading
classroom.
As you are reviewing these resources, think about the way you could use the tools to make them
work for your students, to keep them engaged and motivated, and how its use will help them
become better readers..
1. How can technology be used to differentiate reading lessons for students? Which Web 2.0 tool
or web-based tool did you think was the best for differentiating and motivating students in
reading and why?
2. Choose two Web 2.0 tools or web-based tools and compare their features, specifically stating
how they could help students in reading.
