Functionalist: The different groups that work hand in and to

keep the facility running and properly functional.

Conflict Theory: The most distinctive features of conflict

theories include attention to the role of power relations and
economic contradictions in generating delinquency and
reactions to it. For example, conflict theories have focused
on the role of dominant societal groups in imposing legal
labels on members of subordinate societal groups

History:

The first institution for juveniles were boarding schools.

Between the 1980s and the 1990s the juvenile crime had
rose dramatically.

In 1967 the Supreme court passed a law stating that

juveniles could be addressed as a regular offender and
liberties can be taken away.

Societies Input
Many people believe that the facilities are places
where the children should be sent to be
straightened out and hopefully learn a lesson.
On the other hand people felt he children are just
acting childish and should not be put through that
type of incarceration because they dont know
better and they just made a mistake that could be
fixed in another way.

The Transition Over Time

It first started off as boarding school for the children.
Boot camps then became famous fro reinforcing the children.
Then it transformed into the children actually being incarcerated and
booked.
1989 a law stated that the children could not be placed on death row
or await the death penalty.
Then in the 1990s was when the juvenile delinquents reached the all
time highest record numbers for intakes.
The number of female intakes by the late 1990s was on a decline.
in 2010 records show that numbers for juvenile intake continue to fall.

The people of the people

The people that work for the facilities main purpose is to help
rehabilitate the children to release them back into the society.
But some of the inmates reported being sexually assaulted by
the staff on duty.
In other words majority of the people that worked for the
facilities, main purpose is to help the children but in some
cases the officers take control over the children because they
then think that the children have completely no rights but
they really do.

The reasons for change

It says that one of the main reasons
that the facilities needed to be more
stricter because the children kept
going in at younger ages and with
bigger crimes.
The main crime was drug or gang
relation.

Things are to remain

For the girls they stable:
are properly hygiene and given
the ability to have have physical connection with
their families because they carry emotions
differently than a male would.
Another great thing that remains stable is the
decline of juvenile intake.
The only down fall is that to many children are
still being incarcerated.

To better:
I feel that everyone deserves a second chance or at
least the ability to tell their side of the story. So in
order to better the institution maybe the parents of
the inmates should be given counseling together in
order to better each other and their society. Or the
inmates should be given a tour into a Corners office
after they are prosecuted to actually see what could
happen to them no matter how big or small their
offense is.

Role :
The inmates are one of the main figures that keep the facility
running. They are to learn from their mistake and be taught
how to properly act.
The officers play another major role with the facilities because
they are there to help enforce the children and properly teach
them to act out of the cell walls.
The judge and the court rooms play big role on how the
juveniles react within the facility because of their sentencing
and also because they are the ones deciding how aggressive
the child's action should be punished.

Better to others?
Of course, it only betters juveniles.
Even though they are the ones being
processed it also does help keep the
society civil and at peace because
they are not such an issue no more
because they are being processed for
their wrong action.
