A five piece band from Lincoln, Blam!

talked to guitarist Sam:

BLAM: You played here last October as Climates, just as lead singer Wes Thompson left, so its good to have
you back as part of this tour, with lead singer Kaya Tarsus fronting Blood Youth - has there been a change in
your musical direction during that time?
SAM: Absolutely, its one of the main reasons why we put Climates to bed and started Blood Youth. Towards the end of
last year, we collectively felt like we werent playing the music we wanted to be. We wanted to be in a band that has a full
set of energy, a good balance between heavy and melodic. Blood Youth is pretty much riffs and hooks, it literally came out
exactly as I had in my head which never really happens so it was a great start to the year when we started writing.
BLAM: You just played at Download Festival - how did that go?
SAM: Insane! It was an experience none of us will forget. Getting the chance to play such a prestigious festival was already
something we were coming to terms with but the tent we played was spilling out the sides so we couldnt ask for more
with how things turned out! Also no technical difficulties which is also a bonus.

BLAM: Im sending you these questions just before your first EP Inside my head comes out - so probably by
the time you get them... It will be out!
SAM: Correct! it is out now and the reactions have taken us all by surprise. We didnt expect to have so many into us so
fast but we have some really great support out there which were super thankful for!
BLAM: How has it been recording and releasing your first EP Inside my head?
SAM: It was the most relaxing experience from start to finish really! With projects in the past nothing has ever gone to plan
and from writing the songs to recording and getting those first mixes back we had no issues and everything stayed in the
time frame. Its been a massive relief to finally have it out and have people hear what weve spent the first half of this year
working so hard on though! Its been rewarding having so many people online tweet or post about us in such a positive
light!

BLAM: And - plans for the future, with the EP out, and tour completed?
SAM: We are currently working on new music now actually. Maybe another EP, maybe an album, well have to wait and
see. After the tour we have some sick festivals in the UK and in Europe over the following months, some announced some
not so keep an eye out! We will just be trying to tour and play to as many new people as possible this year!
