5. Class is highly motivated, with strong background in social studies. I will activate prior
knowledge by giving a 5-question quiz at the beginning of the class period to remind
them of previously learned information. After the quiz, I will explain to the class the
plans for the day, and the specific time period through American History we will be
discussing.
6. Learning Styles of the class include
o Visual
o Kinesthetic (Hands On)
-Kinesthetic learning comes primarily from the class review game, which includes a question
and answer type of game and allowing the students to putt for extra credit points.
State Objectives

SSUSH19-The student will identify the origins, major developments,
and the domestic impact of World War II, especially the growth of the
federal government.
-The student will be able to identify the origins, major developments, and the domestic
impact of World War II by explaining the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, explaining all
major battles and their impact, and all geographic locations of both the European and
Pacific theaters all in a lectured setting.
Select Methods, Media, , and Materials
The lesson will be presented from a PowerPoint presentation representing key facts and
points with additional information needed for student note-taking. Students will receive
instructions for small group work that lists major questions that will be answered and
presented to the class in groups of 2-4. The PowerPoint presentation will explain in detail all
questions that will be answered by the small groups and allows them to add their own views
and opinions about major topics. Students will be able to use collaboration with their peers
to gather more information about the presented materials.

Utilize Media, Materials, and Methods

1. Students will preview the information needed through the PowerPoint presentation that
is designed to take 30 minutes of classroom instruction time.
2. The PowerPoint presentation will be prepared before the beginning of the lesson, as well
as the worksheets that will be passed around for group activities.
3. The seating arrangement will be all seats will be arranged for group collaboration. They
will be moved to allow groups of 4 to sit in a squared area where each student can see
and actively participate. Lighting will be arranged where all students can easily see the
PowerPoint presentation as well as group wok.
4. Students will be prepared by a warm up quiz right when the period starts to activate prior
knowledge. Students will be motivated by a grade to be engaged and encouraged to
actively participate throughout the lesson through a weekly participation grade.
5. I will provide learning experiences by using a PowerPoint lecture to the entire class, then
splitting them into groups to allow group collaboration about major points of the lecture.
Require Learner Participation
-All students will be engaged by the warm-up quiz to activate prior knowledge at the start of
the period. I will explain the importance of the PowerPoint presentation and that the
students will be individually graded based on the quality of their effort and presentations on
the major topics discussed throughout the PowerPoint lecture. This lesson will take about 5
class sessions due to the importance of the implications of World War II and the length of
time it will take for each group to present their topics to the rest of the class.
-To access each individual student, the warm-up quiz will be graded for accuracy. Also,
students will be individually graded based on their participation throughout the PowerPoint
lecture. The students will be graded on their participation in the group setting and their
quality of the their presentations to the class.
Evaluate & Revise
Evaluation methods for each of the following are included:
1. Student Performance
-Grading scale of 1-5 will be provided to the students where 1 is below-average work and 5
is exceptional work. Grades will be based on quality of oral presentation to the class about
their topic provided as well as their active participation based on teacher opinion of their
effort.
2. Media Effectiveness
-I will evaluate the effectiveness of the PowerPoint presentation based on the quality of
presentations as well as the participation shown by the students. The effectiveness of the
teacher will be accessed personally by the quality of the presentations given by the groups
of students. If they are consistently sub-par, then changes will need to be made.
Supervisors will evaluate the effectiveness of the lesson by how well the students comply to
the goals and standards given by the State of Georgia. I will also survey the students to
determine if the lesson will be used in the future.
