Museum of Anthropology Carlos

Pellicer Cmara
The Regional Museum of Anthropology Carlos Pellicer House is located in the
city of Villahermosa in Tabasco, Mexico and its archaeological collection
consists of 10 thousand pieces, is considered the second largest in the country,
second only to the National Museum Anthropology
The museum shows visitors objects of the Olmeca, Maya, Zoque and Nahua
who settled in the territory of the state of Tabasco. The museum was
inaugurated on February 16, 1980, when the third anniversary of the death of
the poet Carlos Pellicer Cmara, in whose honor is named after him was met.
This cultural center was severely damaged during the flood of Tabasco in 2007,
when the waters of the Grijalva River broke into the museum interior affecting
their infrastructure, causing it to be closed to the public for four years, until
December 21, 2011 that and with a new remodeling, he reopened. The
museum has since reopened with a new museology, modern design and with
new techniques of explanation, that make your visit a new experience in their
journey, showing visitors the grandeur of the pre-Hispanic societies.
The archaeological collection of the museum has various objects and pieces of
civilizations from the Olmecas and Mayas untill the Mexica, and ranges from
the Preclassic to the Postclassic. The museum has 10 000 exhibits and artifacts
from Mesoamerican cultures, spread over three levels. Various potteries, stone,
stucco, bone, shell and metal are. An approach using cutting-edge media and
museum as well as standards of conservation and safety, and given the
warmth of its services to the public, stimulates creativity and active
participation through workshops, clubs, and exhibitions, conferences, courses
and publications quality.
This museum shows us our ancestors, their workshops are very creative, and is
also a good option to break the routine and learn about our culture, which often
do not know.
