Importance of Technology in Schools. Contemporary Educational Technology, 4(3), 187-196.

INTRODUCTION
Research Questions (if research questions are not specifically mentioned, what is
the theoretical background or overarching theme):

The five standards of the National Education Technology Standards for administrators.

Purpose of the research:

The purpose of this study is what the Major functions of technology in the schools are and how
to integrate technology in education.
METHODOLOGY
What is the methodology for the research or approach used to understand the
issue? Provide information regarding the following:

Participants:
o Principals from an extensive metropolitan range in the southwest area of the U.S
responded with a questionnaire that tended to general population of school
principals.
o In 1998 national survey of 866 principals was also analyzed by Anderson and
Dexter (2005).
o National Education Technology Standards (NETS) for administrators.
Procedures:
o The procedure was based on eight technology-related exercises and
characteristics, like the fact of technology committee, email using, staff
development policies, and a budget for school technology.
o Principals were integrating information and communication technology in
schools.

Data Collection Methods/Data Source:

o All data collection was online and paper surveys and interviews as well.
Data Analysis:
o Data analysis from the questionaries of the interview data began with a process of
data reduction. The data was then coded into meaningful categories. Once the
categories were established, another researcher independently coded a 10%
sample of responses to determine the consistency of the coding.

RESULTS
Findings or Results (or main points of the article):

One of the questions was Has technology had an impact in your school?" and "If so, in
what specific ways has it made a difference? And those principals reactions for the real
works of technology organization were assembled under six classifications. Over onethird (35%) of the principals shown that technology was used as a primary
communication tool.

DISCUSSIONS
Conclusions/Implications (for your profession):

Teachers and staff members say that principals have big influence on integrating
technology in schools; of course it depends on principals knowledge as well. All
principals should understand that technology as important for carrying out
communication and instruction. Principals perceptions of the major functions of
technology were examined by years of experience. The two major functions of
technology with the highest percentage were communication and instruction.
REFLECTIONS
Students Reflections (changes to your understanding; implications for your
school/work):

As I have mentioned earlier principals is key role in every campus, if he supports teachers
and administrators on technology usage I believe the campus will achieve more on

education. And also principals should push the teachers on using new technology, talk on
staff meeting, and make short presentation on how to use technology. For example
principals should check every teachers curriculum wether or not teachers using
technology in the class like smart boards, ipads, calculators, mimio pads, apple tv, etc.
