Week 8- Final Journal

My journey into Advanced Pathophysiology has been enlightening to say the least. I
found myself somewhat confused at first due to a lack of instructor feedback. However, this has
not deterred me but made me continue to collaborate with my fellow nurses and seek their
feedback instead. I feel the course was well designed and made me seek active engagement from
other nursing leaders. I truly embrace the concept of active student engagement and feel I have
established relationships with fellow students. All our active participation and sharing of our real
life experiences allowed me to uniquely position myself to draw on each of these situations and
find an educational experience to learn from. This course has helped me to build upon previous
knowledge of physiology and pathophysiology. I did say on many occasions that, Now I know
what that is or, Oh, thats why they do that. This helped me to capture the importance of
defining my understanding of pathophysiology and its application in my practice.
To incorporate the 5 Cs of caring is easy to me; I am totally committed to seeking
continuing education with the broader inclusion necessary to achieve the best outcomes for my
patients by having a conscience to reinsure them to trust me to provide them with the upmost
professional care. I will continue to learn and create an environment of safety, ensuring my staff
is educated and competent to provide our patients with ethical compassionate care. I am
confident that I have established trust in a manner that informs and empowers my patients.
I find it vitally important to be a leader and position myself to provide the education and
support necessary for my staff to build a department where patients are provided with safe,
quality, cost-effective care and outcomes are exceptional. I feel this course has aligned me to do
so and has been effective and meaningful.
