This procedure of painting is prepared to provide guidance in quality
requirements of surface preparation and painting of Valve surface to accepted level.
b)
The surface preparation and painting of surface is provided to protect
the Valves surfaces subjected to atmospheric action / corrosive media.
B)
SURFACE PREPARATION: a)
GENERAL : Surfaces shall be thoroughly cleaned of any materials,
which may be conductive to premature failure of paint substrata. Surface Preparation will be carried out by the following process :
C)
1)
Hand Tool Cleaning.
2)
Power Tool Cleaning.
3)
Sand Blast Cleaning.
PAINTING: a)
GENERAL : All Valves shall be generally painted with primer coat to
protect against corrosion during storage at works. This is followed by the application of paint as per paint manufacturer recommendations. Each Coat of paint shall be uniform of even thickness and continuous, free of any pores and without spots. Each coat is dried thoroughly before application of subsequent coat.
b)
PAINTING : 1) PRIMER : One coat of Red Oxide Primer applied and achieved minimum DFT of 25~30 microns
2) FINAL PAINT :
One coat of Heat resistant Aluminum Paint
applied and achieved minimum DFT of 30~40 microns. Total DFT shall be 65~75 microns.
