Job Description Research Associate

An Economics PhD candidate at the George Washington University (Washington, DC) seeks to hire a
part-time research assistant to help work on a project aimed at investigating the Pakistani labor market.
The project is a resume audit study, which involves responding to job advertisements in local
newspapers and job websites and keeping track of responses from employers to investigate employer
behavior.
The RA will be hired to work on the project locally to provide logistical support as well as to help with
setting up and conducting the experiment. As such the RA will be highly involved in the project, serving
as the researchers eyes and ears on the ground. Duties will involve, but will not be limited to:

Conducting surveys in local universities to gauge perceptions about different religions.


Assisting in the design and execution of the experiment, which includes (but is not limited to):
o responding to job advertisements in local sources.
o keeping track of call backs.
o following up with employers for details.
o maintaining records of all activity.
Coordinating with local organizations and universities.
Assisting with entry, maintenance and preliminary analysis of data.
Organizing and maintaining financial records and being responsible for dealing with
expenditures.
Regular coordinating with head researcher to giving updates on project details and status.

Since the RA will be working with the researcher remotely, potential candidates must be highly
motivated individuals with the ability to work independently, and should have strong computer skills,
excellent writing and communication skills, and good organizational skills. A strong quantitative
background and familiarity with statistics and programming is not a necessity but will be a plus. Those
with an interest in microeconomics, development, sociology and minority rights are highly encouraged
to apply. The position will provide students with an excellent opportunity to attain hands on experience
in setting up and conducting field experiments.
The position will require a time commitment of approximately 15 hours per week for a minimum
duration of 6 months. This may be extended to anywhere between 9 months and a year contingent on
performance and the progress of the project. RAs will be remunerated at a competitive rate. Those
