CURRICULUM COMPONENT CRITERIA.

The Plan must establish clear goals and realistic strategy for using
telecommunications and information technology to improve education services.
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Describe teachers' current access to instructional technology and current use of

digital tools.
1. What technology is currently available to all teachers?
There are smart boards and projectors are available in every classroom in our
school. Teachers are given laptop at the beginning of the year. 4 Chrome book

charts are available by reservation.

2. How does technology assist teachers and principals with their administrative
tasks, attendance and grading?
Data base system that we are using in our school is letting school admins and
teachers to take the attendance, grading and homework & assignment tracking.
The system is available as android and apple application for smartphones and
tablets. The data base is also has students parent information available for
teachers to communicate. There are two more online systems that we are using in
our school one for discipline and lesson planning and curriculum. You can easily
keep track of students progress in terms of disciplinary issues. And teachers will
make their lesson plan available all the time for school admins to check anytime
by using the online program for lesson planning.
Describe students' current access to instructional technology and current use of
digital tools. Include a description about the LEA policy, practices, and/or
replacement policy that ensures equitable technology access for all students.
1. Is technology currently available to all students?
Students are given an email address and student data base account to check their
grade & homework and communicate with their teachers. Currently, they are not
assigned a chrome book; computers are only available for students to use if
teachers reserve the chart. All classes are equipped with smart board and
projectors.
2. How is technology being used by students in the library media center and
labs?
Our school library has 10 computers available to use for students. There are two
computer labs in the building one for high school students and one for middle
scholars. If there is no class in lab our technology teachers are making computers
available for student during afterschool and lunch time. Students sometimes
barrow the chrome books from teachers to complete assigned work. In college
guidance room there are 4 chrome books and printers available for any college
and career related work and search. There are two iPad kiosks available for
students to check their grade; one in main office and the other in the cafeteria.
Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for using
technology to improve teaching and learning. Describe how these goals align to
the LEA's curricular goals that are supported by other plans. Describe how the
LEA's budget (LCAP) supports these goals, and whether future funding
proposals or partnerships may be needed for successful implementation.
1. How will your curricular goals and needs influence your technology goals?
As an output of our curriculum we would like to have our students equipped with
all required skills for 21st century. To be an active citizen in 21st century, students
should gain skills to utilize media, technology and information. Having STEM
focused curriculum is also required adaptation of new technologies to school
environment to address the needs that we are talking about. Integration of iPads to

curriculum is a perfect example for our school that how curricular goals have an
influence on technology goals.
2. How will technology be used to create more powerful learning experiences to
improve student academic achievement?
As Frey, fisher and Lapp (2015) evaluated at the end of their study on using iPad
in diverse urban high school if technology used well, it can be one of the most
powerful way to engage student. Of course engaging student in learning process is
the first and the most important step for student success. Especially in urban
education how to involve student in class is a big problem. Since our school has
almost the same type of study body, it is expected to achieve more by integrating
technology in instruction.
Frey, N., Fisher, D., & Lapp, D. (2015). iPad Deployment in a Diverse Urban
High School: A Formative Experiment. Reading & Writing Quarterly, 31(2), 135150.
Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, to address
Internet Safety and the appropriate and ethical use of technology in the
classroom.
1. What LEA board policies will be or have been developed to implement
Internet safety instruction?

All students agree not to post personal contact information about himself or other
people. Personal contact information includes home address, telephone number,
school address, work address, parents names, or other information that someone
may use to locate that student.

Students will not share their password with others.

Students will not agree to meet with someone they have encountered solely
online.

Students will promptly disclose to their teacher or administrator any message

they receive that is inappropriate or that makes them uncomfortable.
2. How and when will teachers and students learn about the implications of
legal/illegal file sharing?
During the orientation session of every single education year, classroom
advisory teachers will be going over the technology use policy with the
students. In this policy purpose of network at BASCS, personal safety,
inappropriate language and behaviors, illegal activities, system security,
students responsibilities, and lost, damage and stolen technology items topics
will be covered. At the end the hard copy of the policy will be given to the
students. Student and his/her parents will sign the agreement page of the
policy and bring it back to their advisory teacher. Advisory teacher will be
responsible to collect and store agreements.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT

The Plan must have a professional development strategy to ensure that staff
understands how to use these new technologies to improve education services
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Summary of the teachers' and administrators' current technology proficiency and

integration skills and needs for professional development.
1. Do teachers have the classroom management strategies to work with the
amount of technology actually available in the classrooms?
Teachers at BASCS are using software like Edmodo and Class Dojo by taking
the advantage of smart board and chrome books. Both programs have positive
effect on students behavior. Teachers are also sharing their best practices with
those softwares in professional developments.
2. Are administrators able to support teachers with the integration of
technology into daily curriculum?
School administrators are very supportive in terms of integration of
technology into daily curriculum. They are promoting teachers to come up
with different ideas on how to use technology much more efficient into the
classrooms and support those teachers by providing an opportunity to attend
PD or seminars.
Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for providing
professional development opportunities based on your LEA needs assessment
data and the Curriculum Component of the plan.
1. What professional learning will be available so teachers and
administrators can make informed decisions using data to meet
individual student academic needs?
Grade chairs are taking the most important role in the process of assessing the
data and planning the intervention plans for individual needs of students. They
have two meetings one with grade level teachers and the other with the school
admins to coordinate the process.
2. What professional learning will be available so teachers and
administrators can effectively use technology to assist with student
assessment?
Teachers are using the ExamView to evaluate the benchmark tests for each
quarter and put their reflection on our curriculum program Atlas. And the
reflections are checked by Data and testing coordinator. They are also having
an individual meeting with dean of academics to evaluate the results.
INFRASTRUCTURE, HARDWARE, TECHNICAL SUPPORT, SOFTWARE, AND
ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPONENT CRITERIA

The Plan must include an assessment of the telecommunication services,

hardware, software, asset management, and other services that will be needed to
improve education services.
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Describe the existing hardware, Internet access, electronic learning resources,

technical support, and asset management already in the LEA that will be used to
support the Curriculum and Professional Development Components of the plan.
1. Do all staff members have e-mail accounts? Do students have access to email?
All teachers are given an email accounts at the beginning of the year, and they
are using the same account while staying at BASCS. All teachers and students
email accounts are available to see. Students are using computer lab and iPad
Kiosks at the building to check their emails.
2. What technologies are available to facilitate home/school communication
such as email, web pages, and voice mail?
School Reach is the main way to establish the communication with the
parents. Teachers and the school admins have an access to arrange calls or
send text messages. And also school web site is another good source for
parents, it has been updated regularly. You can also see upcoming event at the
school calendar at the school web site.
Describe the technology hardware, electronic learning resources, networking and
telecommunications infrastructure, physical plant modifications, technical
support, and asset management needed by the LEA's teachers, students, and
administrators to support the activities in the Curriculum and Professional
Development components of the plan.
1. Can existing equipment be modified to meet certain needs identified in the
plan?
We would like to use IPads in classrooms therefore we might need to download
ITunes to all teachers laptops. We also need to make sure on all teachers have an
ITunes account. We also need to buy a converter to connect iPads to smartboards.
2. How will mobile devices be physically secured when not in use, and who will
be the person(s) responsible for ensuring devices are secured?
All iPads will be stored in locked charts in the classrooms. There will be two
copies of key for the lock; classroom teacher and the IT Manager. Its teachers
responsibility to place all iPads in chart and make them available and charged.
MONITORING AND EVALUATION COMPONENT
The plan must include an evaluation process that enables the school to monitor

progress toward the specific goals and make mid-course corrections in response
to new developments and opportunities as they arise.
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Describe the process for evaluating the plan's overall progress and impact on
teaching and learning.
1. Who will participate in the monitoring and evaluation process?
Principal, IT Manager, Data & Testing Coordinator and Dean of Academics
will evaluate and monitor the process. They are responsible to check and give
necessary support to staff. It is important for them to get reflection from
teachers, students and parents to understand if plan is working or not.
2. How will the LEA know whether implementation of this plan has made a
positive impact on teaching and learning?
There should be a mechanism to understand if the plan is making positive
impact on students success. First and the most important indicator would be
students grades in current courses. Data Coordinator could easily compare
students last year performance with current year. State test results are the
second criteria to see if there is any positive impact of the plan. Last by not
least, survey should be given to teachers, students and parents to get their
feedback on how they feel about the chance in the school. Careful evaluation
of such a survey will be another source for us to check the progress.
Describe the schedule for evaluating the effect of plan implementation, including
a description of the process and frequency of communicating evaluation results
to tech plan stakeholders.
1. How often will data be collected and summarized? Who is responsible?
In the very first year of the plan each quarter the data should be collected and
summarized by Data coordinator and Dean of Academics. Since state tests are
giving only one time in a year, benchmark test results should be used to evaluate
the process. Second and third year data collection and summary will be done each
semester.
2. How often will the status of plan implementation be reported to the LEA
superintendent and the stakeholders?
Since the school is a district by itself, the reporting will be given to the school
principal and stakeholders annually by Data coordinator, Dean of academics, and
IT Manager.
