Describe the instructional activities that will occur prior to the SRS
Activity and how you will introduce the SRS Activity: The SRS activity will
be used as a pre-assessment in order to gage student understanding of what will
be taught before the lesson starts, and get them interested to learn the answers if
they do not know them. The teacher will introduce the topic of the geography of
Southern and Eastern Asia and start the SRS Activity.

Identification of students:
Students will log-in so their individual scores will be available to you after the
session
SRS Activity will be anonymous

enter students names, assigning them each to a specific plicker card. Then, the
teacher will enter all the questions for the assessment into the Plickers apps to
prepare for class. During class, each student will receive their Plickers card and be
able to view quiz questions on the interactive white board as well as listen to the
teacher ask the question and give each option (A-D). Students will hold up their
cards to show their response, and the teacher will use the iPhone or iPad to record

Right/Wrong Answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions? :

Yes
No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, others will not.)
Immediate Corrective Feedback:
Will you pre-select correct answers to some or all of the questions and display the
correct response to the class after the SRS activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not? Yes, immediately following the assessment, I will begin the
lesson in which I will give them the answer for each question so that they have
quick feedback and will know what they need to learn.
Use of Data: The information from this activity will not be used as part of a
grade, rather it will be used to assess each student and see what they need to
learn, as well as spark interest in the topic before it starts. I will use this
information to change my focus, but at this point I will not need to differentiate
the classroom based on this data because it is a pre-assessment. After studying
the lesson, I will create a new assessment in which I will test students on what
they have learned. At that point, I will use data to differentiate the class.
Describe what will occur after the SRS activity: I will begin the lesson about
the geography of Southern and Eastern Asia with an interactive white board
lesson, answering all of the questions asked during the SRS activity during the
lesson.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. (For example: What
are you trying that you have not tried before? What do you hope to learn from
this activity? How do you hope it will help students learn? You must design
2

something that will help you learn something new! Honor System!) I want to see
if using SRS activities will increase student interest in the topic. I also want to give
shyer students or students who are English language learners a chance to
participate in class in a new way that may increase their confidence and
engagement with the class. I also want to see what students are bringing to the
lesson from previous instruction or their personal interest in the topic.
