Degree sought (if applicable) - Be specific

The degree I am seeking to complete is M.Ed. School and Applied Child Psychology. My intention is to graduate and
to work as a provisional school psychologist and then try and certify as a registered psychologist with the College of
Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Program - Course Outline (minimum of 4 full university courses or approved equivalent or

8 half courses = 24 credits)
The following link provides a course description of the EDPS 698 A and B courses that cover the fall and
winter semesters at the University of Calgary: http://www.ucalgary.ca/pubs/calendar/grad/current/educationalpsychology.html#39146
I have also attached a course outline of the 2014 Fall Term EDPS 698 A course to this email. The winter term
698 B course outline will be posted at this link:
http://werklund.ucalgary.ca/gpe/course-schedules/med-school-applied-child-psychology/winter-2015
in January 2015. The EDPS 698 A and B lectures are considered to be half courses but the required practicum
component is full time since I will have to complete 1200 hours of internship experience from Fall 2015 to
April 2014.

Preparations you have made to date (Preparatory course work)

EDPS

I am currently applying for internship positions within different educational settings and school districts. My
intention is to complete my practicum hours under the supervision of a school psychologist in this district to fulfill the
graduation requirement of my program, which is 1200 hours full-time practicum experience (EDPS 698 A in the Fall
Semester and EDPS 698 B in the Winter Semester) along with weekly course lectures. I have been taking courses in
this program since May 2012 and will be completed all of the prerequisite courses by August 2015. I will be
registering for the EDPS 698 A/B courses early next year.
If you were granted Sabbatical Leave for the above work, what benefits would accrue to both you and the
School District?
Being able to have the opportunity to complete a practicum in this district would allow me to gain valuable
experience in a future career in school psychology. Completing this practicum would allow me to graduate and to try
and seek employment as a provisional psychologist in order to complete the certification process under the College of
Alberta Psychologists. My goal is to become a certified school psychologist. I feel that I have a lot to offer in terms
of my education, teaching background, practicum experience, and volunteer opportunities. I am a hard worker and I
enjoy learning new skills. Therefore I am willing to work in any type of practicum environment in this district that
may be suitable towards my masters program.
