Advise students each semester in the ACEJMC-accredited School of Journalism and Mass
Communication, in line with the required advising policy at KSU
Assist new students to acclimate to KSU through summer orientation, including connecting
students to resources and helping them set goals for their first semester
Participate in targeted student outreach using data from the EAB/SSC platform
Document student appointments and utilize Banner applications for student records
Verify degree audits using DegreeWorks and perform audit checks for graduating students
Academic Advisor (Graduate Assistant), BGSU, College of Health and Human Services
(CHHS), August 2013 to May 2015
Provided developmental academic advising services to a caseload of more than 300
students pursuing degrees in criminal justice, nursing, and medical laboratory science
Engaged in targeted outreach to at-risk students via phone and email to increase
retention at BGSU and within CHHS

Served on a committee of advisors for new advisor training and professional
development, including planning for a NACADA mini-conference in February 2014
Learned about Title IV federal financial aid via practicum experience in the office of Student
Financial Aid and created a financial aid primer for advisors in the CHHS Advising office
Updated and enhanced the Advising Centers webpage using the Adobe CQ5 web content
