Judgement and Decision Making

15 hour 1st year obligatory course 2 ECTS points

Course goals
This short course is intended to act as an introduction to the field of judgment and decision
making. As such we will be looking at the methods and theoretical assumptions utilised by
work in this area as well as the results obtained. Significantly, we will examine the central
issue of what the research reveals, and what it assumes, about the nature of human rationality.
Course prerequisites
None
Readings
The main text used in the course will be David Hardman Judgment and Decision Making:
Psychological Perspectives Blackwell 2009.
Assessment
Two 500 word responses to the readings - 20% each
Short final exam (date to be arranged) - 60%
