TheU.S.Historycourseisdesignedtoprovidestudentswiththeanalyticskillsandfactual
knowledgenecessarytodealcriticallywiththeproblemsandmaterialsinU.S.history.Studentswill
assessavarietyofhistoricalsourcesweighevidenceandforminterpretationsofU.S.History.
The
objectiveofthisclassistodevelopliteracyskillsandimprovestudentreadingandwritinginacollegeprep
setting.Historythinkingskillsarecenteredaroundaseriesofdiversesources,eachofwhichmayreveala
differentfacetofthepast.Wewillexploreeachunitthroughawiderangeofsources(readings,films,
discussions,etc.).Studentswillthendemonstratetheirwritingskillsandbeassessedontheirvocabulary

These history skills are essential for students to understandthenationtodayandtoexpresstheirbeliefs.


Strong research and writing skills are essential in countless, highvalue careers, like lawyers, detectives,
researchers and journalists. Throughout the year, students will develop a rich understanding of the United
States. They will express their knowledge of the time periods and develop strong academic and professional
writing skills in a collaborative setting. The course is taught with an emphasis on social justice, exploring the
