BackgroundforTeachers:Visiblelightismadeofdifferentwave
lengths,witheachcolorhavingitsownuniquewavelength.Theseven
colorsofthevisiblelightspectrumarered,orange,yellowgreen,blue,
indigo,andviolet.Aslighthitsanobjectsomelightisobservedand
someisreflectedback.Thecolorofanobjectisthecolorofthelightit
reflects.Grasslooksgreenbecausewhenlighthitsitthebladesabsorb
allthecolorsoflightexceptgreen,whichitreflectsbacktooureyes.
Objectsthatappearwhitereflectbackallcolorsoflightwaves,black
objectsabsorballcolorsoflightwavesanddon'treflectanycolorsback
tooureyes.

2.Dividestudentsintoteamandhavethemdoagame.Tellthestudents
thatthegameiscalledLightandSeek.Studentgroupswillhave3
minutestoexploreandfindallthelightsourcestheycanintheroomand
listthemintheirsciencenotebooks.Theteamwiththemostcorrect
sourceswins.
