Students will learn the design process, technical sketching, and how to model three dimensional objects on the computer in CAD (Computer Aided Drafting). Students will also build hands on projects that are modeled on the computer. Students will also learn the foundation of computer hardware and software relevant to being able to operate a CAD system. Students will also learn workplace skills such as resume writing, interviewing, oral presentation, and working in teams. Students will have opportunities to learn from guest speakers, competitions, and field trips. This is a project based learning course students will maintain an online portfolio of their work and make oral presentations in PowerPoint (or Google Docs). It is important that students follow the file naming convention of the course when turning in work: Example: Samantha Sixer in 3 rd period with a part called locator 3 Sixer Samantha locator. ipt Assignments and grades will be posted in School Loop. Students must save work in their digital lockers in school loop. Work saved on the computer is automatically deleted. It is recommended that students also save their work on their own USB memory stick (1 GB flash drive or larger) and in their online Google drive (G drive or I drive). No electronic devices (cell phones, MP3 players, games) including headphones or ear buds are to be visible in class. 3. Keep your backpacks, purses, laptops, and other valuables with you at all times. Avoid bringing expensive items to school. 4. Students are to be quiet during announcements and lectures. 5. Students may not leave class without permission. 6. Bathroom passes are given only after the first 15 minutes and before the last 15 minutes of class 7. Follow all appropriate safety rules, including no running or other dangerous behaviors in class. 8. Ask permission to use any power tools or print documents in class. 9. Follow the school rules regarding tardiness and attendance and behavior. 10. If not already started, log on to the computer and start the appropriate program when you sit at your computer 11.
