SORTIE EDUCATIVE: French in the Americas at the Mississippi Gulf Coast


25 OCTOBRE, 2014

10:00 Meet at the Biloxi Visitors Center. If you drive from Hattiesburg allow one and a half to two hours. We will
attend a talk about Gulf Coast French history by Edmond Boudreaux whose Cajun family has been on the coast since
the turn of the 20th century. Afterwards we will visit the centers small museum and construction site next door where a
new park is being built to commemorate Biloxis history.

Address: 1050 Beach Blvd. Located at U.S. 90 and Porter Avenue, just west of I-110 loop and Beau Rivage Casino.
From Hattiesburg take Highway 49 S to 67 SW, continue all the way towards the Beau Rivage casino and turn right
onto Highway 90 (Beach Blvd), go a quarter of a mile, the Biloxi Visitor Center is on your right, across from the Biloxi
Lighthouse.

12:15 Lunch at Le Bakery French-Vietnamese restaurant.


Address: 280 Oak Street, Biloxi, MS. From Highway 90 (Beach Blvd) turn left at the Grand Casino onto Oak Street.

13h30 Lovers Lane, Ocean Springs. Get back on Highway 90 and take the bridge from Biloxi to Ocean Springs, exit
at Lovers Lane. Afterwards we can visit Fort Maurepas Park and see the statue dedicated to Pierre Le Moyne
dIberville.
