Ischemic Heart Disease
Cardiomyopathy and Myocarditis
Upon completion of this lesson, for each of the conditions listed below, the Physician Assistant
student should be able to:
1. Describe the common signs and symptoms of each disease process.
2. Compare the etiology of each of the disease specified, as commonly encountered in
the primary care setting.
3. Analyze the epidemiology affecting each one of the medical conditions listed.
4. Describe the pathophysiology for each disease.
5. Select the appropriate diagnostic tests, and interpret the results, for each of the
medical conditions listed.
6. Correlate the clinical findings with diagnostic tests results, in determining a
diagnosis, and differential diagnoses.
7. Formulate an initial treatment plan for each of the listed medical conditions,
including any specialist consultations.
8. Recommend follow-up regimens and provide patient education.
