Because of Atlanta’s ramp layout, controllers cannot give you taxi instructions as soon as you
have pushed back.
They will tell you to “advise this frequency 1 north (or whatever), when ready to taxi”.
This means you should taxi to the north side of the ramp, within ramp 1.
The diagram should provide a visual way of seeing where you should contact ground.
Routes
If you are going to be flying in or out of Atlanta, you will be expected to follow terminal
procedures. When departing Atlanta you will be expected to use one of the terminal
departures and when arriving you will be expected to use the terminal arrivals. If unable to
read charts then you will be directed to this link.
I have dumbed down the departure/arrival procedures so if you cannot read charts, you can
still fly them using FS. All you have to do is input the waypoints into your FMC/GPS.
The atlanta 5 departure is a radar vectored departure, however we try to limit this departure
because of controller workload. If you are a turboprop or prop aircraft however, you must
use the Atlanta 5 departure.

Rnav to _------_
When tower says "RNAV to LIDAS", we are asking you to check that your first waypoint is
the correct one, for safety reasons.
As a pilot, you should respond with "RNAV to (first waypoint)", which should be the one the
controller said.
Each runway has a specific waypoint off of it, therefore if you request a runway for
departure, or your orginal runway to expect for departure changed, you must change your
routing in your GPS/FMC.
The waypoints for each departure in the routes section are runway specific; the first
waypoints off of runways are as follows:
