Course Description: With their writings left behind, past American authors have left us
a glimpse into our countrys past. In this class, we will focus on American society during
the 1920s. Through literature, we will see how different classes, races, and genders
functioned together to create The Roaring 20s and ultimately achieve the American
Dream.

Assessments:
1. Daily Participation: (Not part of cumulative grade affects credit)
Daily Participation will be awarded every day, and you will either earn all 5
points or 0 (zero) points for a total of 25 pts/week. To earn participation
points, you must:
1. Come prepared to class (homework done, have materials
needed, be on time, have tablet charged)
2. Participate in discussions to the best of your ability
3. Take notes when needed
4. Work cooperatively and collaboratively in small groups
5. Do not abuse your daily passes
Note: If you are absent, you will earn NO participation points.
2. Daily assignments (worksheets, online discussions) (25% of grade)
- All daily assignments must be turned in electronically (unless
otherwise stated)
- Assignments that have been copied will receive a 0 (zero) with no
opportunity to re-do.
- All late assignments must be turned in by 3:00PM Friday of the
grading week.
o No assignment will be accepted after this time.
o 1 pt. will be taken off the earned score for every day it is late
3. Writing assignments (essays, 4-sentence essays, projects) (40% of grade)
- All writing assignments must be written in MLA format.
- Any writing assignment that has been plagiarized or copied will
receive a 0 (zero) with 1 chance to re-do for 50% of the earned grade.
4. Tests & Quizzes (35% of grade)
- No test will be able to be re-done
- Any test that cheating occurred on will receive a 0 (zero) with no
opportunity to re-do.

Credit

Students will earn 0.5 credit if they:


- Have earned 80% or higher in participation points
- Have fewer than 7 absences
- Have 60% or higher on all cumulative assignments
Students will earn 0.25 credit if they:
- Have earned 50%-79% in participation points
- Have 7 or more absences
- Have 60% or higher on all cumulative assignments
Students will earn no credit if they:
- Have earned less than 50% in participation points
- Have 10 or more absences
- Have less than 60% on all cumulative assignments
