Guidelines for project submission and presentation
1. Evaluate the performance of the 02 companies selected by your group.
2. Start with segment analysis/ quality of segment reporting, Give a detailed outline for group structure. 3. Reformulate income statement and BS. 4. Evaluate profitability i.e. modified Du-pont analysis. Understand and explain the financial, operating performance of the firms. 5. Provide a detailed cash flow analysis w.r.t. business strategy and make a link in between operational practice and the evidence reflected in cash flow statement. 6. Incorporate following specific issues while comparing firms-Capitalization -Off-Balance sheet transaction -Interoperate investment -Foreign currency translation -Earnings Management 7. Look into the economic performance- EVA. 8. Apply RIV and/or AEG to suggest the target P/B or P/E and comment on the present valuation. 9. Comment on the earnings volatility and red-flags for both companies. 10. Finally, forecast complete income statement and BS. Wherever, required use forecast data to evaluate the performance. 11. You are free to highlight any other related issues to make a meaningful analysis of financial statements. Note that this is a team effort. You should evaluate the firms as an expert analyst in the finance world and contribute that knowledge to analyze the financial statements. Each group member must have to show his/her own contribution in the group. The final submission will also follow a brief oral presentation and via-voce for each group. Last date for submission of written project report (both soft copy and hard copy) is 31st August 2015, Presentation schedule will be declared after the completion of the course. Total groups- Sec-A -13, Sec-B=14 Note: Plagiarism, fabrication, deception, cheating and sabotage are examples of unacceptable academic conduct. Avoid it.
