Course Description
Prerequisite: Algebra I
Relations, properties, and measurement of surfaces, lines, and angles in one, two, and three-dimensional figures
are investigated and used in this course. Students will use deductive reasoning to justify, prove formally and
apply theorems about geometric figures. Probability concepts are included in this course. The level of
instruction/curriculum will focus on preparing the student for advanced placement mathematics courses.
Course Text Requirements
We will be using an electronic textbook this year. More information to come soon!!
Grades -- We will follow the district grading policy as outlined in the Student Handbook:
Tests
60%
Daily Work/Quizzes 40% **Quizzes will count twice.
Tutorial schedule -- Tutorial schedules will be posted throughout the hallway and in my classroom. Students
may attend my tutorials or other teachers tutorials. I am available Mondays and Wednesdays after school.
Assignments -- We will have an assignment every day. Students are responsible for bringing the completed
assignment to class on the due date.
Supplies
3-Ring Binder (school-wide) Students should keep worksheets, notes, and quizzes in this binder
Pencil Students must come to class each day with a pencil in order to complete all classwork. Work
that is turned in to me must be done in pencil, or points may be deducted from the score.
Notebook Paper or Spiral with perforated sheets
Calculator Use
TI-84 Plus Silver Edition calculators are available for student use while at school; however, having your own
calculator is beneficial.
Academic Dishonesty:
Any student caught cheating will receive a grade of zero for that assignment/exam. Cheating includes the
copying of another students work (homework, classwork, test answers, etc.) as ones own. Giving another
student your answers is also considered cheating. Any communication between students during an exam or
having prohibited electronics visible during tests will be considered cheating. A student found to have engaged
in academic dishonesty will be subject to loss of credit for the work in question as well as disciplinary penalties.

Course Policies
1. We will be following all of the guidelines outlined in the student handbook. Please read through it carefully
so that you are aware of the expectations concerning student IDs, cell phone use, and dress code. Cell
phones should be turned off and put away during class unless given permission.
2. I expect full participation from every student in class. It is imperative that you are engaged and actively
listening and participating so that you will remain on target. Ask questions as needed and listen as others
ask questions. I expect respect for myself and for classmates as we experience the ups and downs of
learning together. I will be respectful of your time as I assign homework; however, some homework is
necessary. The expectation is that homework will be completed by the following class so that you will
know what questions to ask as we go over it.
3. If you are absent the day an assignment is due, you will turn it in the day you return. If you are absent the
day of a test, you should be prepared to take it the day you return. If you are absent the day before a
quiz/test, you will take the quiz/test the same day as other students.
4. A re-test opportunity is available to students who score below a 70 on any test grade. I recommend going
to tutoring at least once prior to taking the retest. The re-test must be taken during tutorials unless other
arrangements are made. You will receive the score of the re-test up to a 70. If you score higher than a 70 on
the re-test, you will be given a 70. All re-tests must be completed before the next test or the Wednesday
before the end of the grading period, whichever comes first.
5. Disrespect to teacher or fellow classmates is absolutely unacceptable and will result in immediate
disciplinary action.
6. Respecting other students rights to a productive learning environment is mandatory. Any violation of this
will not be taken lightly.
Other General Policies and Procedures will be followed as outlined in the Student Handbook.
