4 three-prong notebook OR some kind of organizational method for notes/assignments
Optional: TI-nSpire Calculator CX

III. GRADING POLICY:

Assignments/Homework 20%, Quizzes 30%, Tests 50%


Cheating is not tolerated. Necessary work must be shown IN PENCIL on all assignments. The NEISD
academic honesty policy will be enforced.

IV. Classroom Goals:


By the end of this class, students will be able to:
1. use functions to represent and model problem situations and to analyze and interpret
relationships.
2. set up equations and use a variety of methods to solve these equations.
3. use a variety of representations, tools, and technology to model mathematical situations and to
solve meaningful problems.

V. Classroom Rules:
It is important to follow all school rules!
1. Come to class every day that you are able.
2. Arrive on time with your own supplies and be ready to participate.
3. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
4. Follow directions the first time.
5. Stay on task during all work times.

VI.Consequences for classroom rule Violations:


If a student violates a rule, he/she may be assigned a consequence. Depending on the frequency and
severity of the misbehavior, students may receive one or more of the following consequences:
1. Parental Contact
2. Change in seating assignment
3. Time owed after class
4. Detention
5. Office referral
6. Student/Teacher Conference

VII. ASSIGNMENTS:
Assignments (daily or homework) will be given every class meeting. Some will be graded that day and
others will be graded according to Reagans Homework Guidelines. Assignments must be completed and
necessary work must be shown IN PENCIL or no credit will be given. It is expected that all assignments
will be done in a timely manner. Students should keep all work until the end of the semester. At that point,
students may choose to store their papers somewhere safe for further use or to recycle them. Late work
will be accepted in accordance with the NEISD grading regulations.

VIII. QUIZZES:
Quizzes can be given at any time during the class period. They may or may not be announced and
will cover material from previous assignments.

IX. TESTS:
Tests will be announced at least one week in advance and a test review will be given the day before every
test. Each test will cover material from sections that were previously taught. Three unit tests will be
given every 9 weeks. Students who earn a failing test grade may correct their test using the Test
Correction Form to raise their test grade to a maximum grade of a 70. All test corrections are due within
one week of the test being returned to the student.

X.TUTORING:
Tutoring will be available with Mrs. Risinger in MS 301 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from
8:00 8:35 and after school by appointment. Please see the schedule posted outside MS 301 for additional
tutoring times/locations should I be unavailable.

XI. PROGRESS REPORTS/PARENT PORTAL:


District generated progress reports will be sent home twice during each grading period. At the teachers
discretion, detailed grade reports will be sent home for your information. Also, please check the parent
portal on the internet to review your childs grade. Go to http://www.neisd.net for sign-up information.

XII. Students responsibilities after an absence:


Makeup work is the responsibility of the student. Missed quizzes and tests will be completed by
appointment. The NEISD policy for makeup work will be adhered to in this class. All make-up work needs
to be handed to the teacher at the beginning of class.

XIII. Student Passes:


Each student will be given 8 passes per nine weeks. These passes are for students to use to leave the
classroom for restroom visits, to get a drink of water, etc. When all passes are used or lost, privileges to
leave the classroom are gone until the next 9 weeks (medical emergencies excluded). At the end of each
nine weeks, any unused passes may be redeemed for 1 point each on the last test of the grading period.

graphing calculator given to me for use during my math class. If the calculator becomes
damaged while under my care or if the calculator is not returned to the teacher, I understand
that I am responsible for the replacement of the calculator. I understand that calculators
cannot be repaired and that the replacement cost of the calculator is $135. I also understand
that before I will be allowed to use a calculator in class I must return this contract to my
teacher. If I choose to use my own calculator in class, I understand I must use it in a way to
benefit my learning. If I do not make this choice, I understand that my games, programs,
and/or applications may be erased from my calculator.
