Course Overview
This course is an introduction to the rights and responsibilities citizens of the United States have.
Students will achieve this by comparing influences on America's Founding Fathers, exploring the
structure of the government today and identifying rights protected in the U.S. Constitution.

Class Expectations
All students are expected to be prepared for class and be ready to participate in discussions. They will be
expected to remain on task and follow all procedures related to class activities. They will be expected to
respect fellow classmates and the classroom environment. Additionally, students must prepare for the
Civics EOC exam in May. This will include significant preparation outside of the classroom.

Parent Teacher Communication


The best way to reach me is via email (mbunch@dadeschools.net) or visiting the schools website, which
has a link to my email. I will post class information, such as homework assignments, test/quiz review,
project/research paper instructions and sometimes review notes. Please check the website for
information on the class and important dates and if you are absent. Should you wish to schedule a
parent/teacher conference, call the office so that they may coordinate a convenient date and time.

A dedicated class notebook and a folder containing looseleaf paper.
OR
A dedicated section within a 3 ring binder.
Pen or pencil

A = 100 - 90
B = 89 - 80
C = 79 - 70
D = 69 - 60
F = 59 0
I = Incomplete
Z = Did not complete the assignment
X = Excused from assignment

Make-Up/Late Work
Upon returning to school after an absence, a student has the responsibility within the number of days
equal to the length of the absence or suspension to meet with the teacher to develop a plan for making
up missed work, quizzes, and examinations. Late work will be accepted at the discretion of Mr. Bunch,
with the assumption being it will not be accepted.

Tests: 30 %
Projects: 20%
Classwork/Participation: 30%
Homework: 20%

All Students are expected to be respectful, both to the teacher and their fellow students.
All Students are expected to be prepared with all required supplies during all classes.
All Students are expected to be responsible and accountable for their academic performance.
All Students are expected to be sitting at their assigned seat.
Cheating will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate F.
