Welcome to Second Grade!

Welcome back to school! We are happy to be
working with your child this year. We have high
expectations and will be doing all we can to
help your child meet those expectations.
You can help at home as well by making sure
you initial your childs agenda each night, check
and discuss behavior calendar in the home
folder, and make time for homework.
Please make sure your child is coming on time
and prepared for school every day by bringing
back their agenda, take home folder, and
completed homework.
We have been working hard to establish
classroom rules, discussing appropriate school
behavior, and adjusting to our daily schedule.
Students have been doing a wonderful job!

Field Trip Information

Students will be participating in field trips
this year. We will visit the ESSL (Earth Space
and Science Lab), take a walking tour of
Frederick, and enjoy Fountain Rock Nature
Center. More information will be coming
home soon!

We Challenge YOU!

This month we challenge you to work with your student on tying their shoes.
Here are some helpful tips:

Practice other fine-motor skill activities like chopsticks, lacing cards,

nuts & bolts, monkey bars, and puzzles.

Practice tying something bigger first, like tying a jump rope around a

tree!
Use different color shoe laces, so kids see the steps more easily.
Sit behind the child while tying their shoes so they can see from their view
how it is done.
Rememberproductive struggle can lead to great outcomes.
