maintenance engineer basic license have to meet, depending on there background, all
applicants must pass the basic license written examination, complied either by a
jar147 approved training organization or by the CAA, exams c an be passed during or
after the experience, even if before depending on the situation of the person.
For applicant with no previous technical training and experience it can be either an
approved training in a jar147 organization followed by 2 years experience on a/c's or
5 years experience on a/c and finishes the exams in the CAA.
3 years experience is required from a skilled worker in a non-aviation technical trade.
NOTE: person has 5 years (time limit), during that period the person must complete
both exams and experience if not they will be subject to expiry: (5years start counting
from passing the first exam).
A jar145 organization is responsible for providing the type experience and technical
type training for applicant, applicant then examined by the organization before the
issue of the type license by the CAA.
After the issue of a type rated license the applicant must pass a company procedures
course followed by an interview with the quality department manager to access his
suitability for the issue of a company authorization.
