Career Exploration Project


This is an individual project, so you will be working on your own to explore one possible career for you.

Go to https://azcis.intocareers.org/materials/portal/home.html
Click on the Just Browsing tab.
Hover your mouse over the ASSESSMENTS tab. This will bring up a dialogue box. Go to Career Cluster
Inventory (under the heading What are my interests?). Click on it.
Click on Rate the activities at the bottom of the page.
After you have rated all of the activities (There are 80 of them), the website will generate a list of all
the career clusters, rating from most likely to least likely to be a career cluster you would enjoy.
Click on the different career clusters (you can right click and tell it to Open In a New Tab).
Click on the different areas (Overview, pathway, skills, etc.) and read them until you find one that
sounds interesting.
Once you find the career cluster you like, click on Occupations under Related Information.
Click through the different jobs that are related to the career cluster you choose. You can use the right
click, open in a new tab to make it easier.
Find a job you like.
Using the information from Task List, write a one paragraph summary of what this occupation does. Be
sure to include common job responsibilities. DO NOT COPY AND PASTE!!!!! I want a summary of what
they do in YOUR words. Copying will result in a ZERO.
Using Wages and Employment & Outlook and Advancement Opportunities, write a paragraph telling
if you think this would be a good job to go into based on salary and the ease of finding a job only. DO
NOT COPY AND PASTE!!!!! I want your opinion about how good of a job this would be based on the $$
you make in YOUR words. Copying will result in a ZERO.
Using the Preparations and Licensing/Certifications tab, write a paragraph discussing the schooling
requirements. How long do you need to go to school? Are there any special certificates or licenses that
are needed? What kind of degree and in what field? DO NOT COPY AND PASTE!!!!! I want to know
what education and licensing is required in YOUR words. Copying will result in a ZERO.
Based on the schooling requirements, research THREE (3) possible schools that you could attend to
fulfill the education requirements. Write a paragraph with information about all three schools.
Information that must be included: Name of school, location, cost for completion of the schooling
requirement for your chosen career, and 3-4 courses required. Proved this information for EACH of the
three schools.
Write a summary paragraph telling what school you think would best for you. Include why you think
it is the best, how you could possibly pay for the school, living and/or transportation issues and how
you would handle them, and possible roadblocks that you may need to overcome and how you could
overcome them.
