Journal #1: Your View

Purpose
These journal assignments are intended to be building-blocks for your portion
of the final exam project. Each one will focus on your view of the class the
focus or topic you are interested in. Your view may change over the course of
the semester; that is okay. This is process work. First-person is allowed.
Texts to Use for Journal #1: Young, Forster, and Premchand.
Formatting: MLA (Document Formatting and Citation Style)
Due Date: Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, by 11:59 pm
Where to Submit: Bb: Turnitin.com upload.
Objectives
Consider the range of topics and issues discussed so far. Which one do
you find interesting or intriguing? Which one do you want to explore in
more depth? What do you have questions about? Here, think of a topic
or conflict from Young that you can connect to the novels.
English Education students if you are taking this course to fulfill the
300-level W English Ed requirement, your focus needs to relate to your
English Education preparation, coursework, teaching expectations, etc.
Describe your focus, using the Young text to help define your point of
view
Analyze the novels using your focus how is the literature exploring
your focus?
Support your analysis with details and quotes from the texts
