Mitchell Fifth Grade

Name: ____________________________________________________

My Google Account address is:

___________________221@students.needham.k12.ma.us

first initial, middle initial, last initial, year of graduation (2022), and
the number one

ex: Ms. Haskells would be:

kth221@students.needham.k12.ma.us

Note: If you have two or more middle names, it is the first initial of
your first middle name.

My Current Password is:

My New Password is:

If you do not have a password you use frequently, please make your
password your middle name with a capital letter and your month and
birthdate.

EX:
Teresa0317 (March 17th)

To Log In for the First Time:

1. Go to http://www.classroom.google.com

It will look like this.

2. Hit the blue Go to Classroom button.

3. It will take you to a screen that looks like this.

3. Under email, type in, making sure Cap Locks are off, your
Needham email address.

4. Under password, type your current password that was given to
you.

5. If it has been entered correctly, it will take you to a screen with a
long document on it. This is called the Terms of Use Agreement from
Google. Though you usually should read these quite closely, we have
done that for you. Click Agree.

6. You will then be prompted to change your password. First, type
in your old password (with the many random letters and numbers),
then choose a new password. Though I have suggested one for you
at the beginning of your booklet, keep these in mind (from Safe
Kids.org)

Create passwords that are easy to remember but hard for others to
guess. When possible, use a phrase such as I started 7th grade at Lincoln
Middle School in 2004 and use the initial of each word like this:
Is7gaLMSi2004.
Make the password at least 8 characters long. The longer the better.
Longer passwords are harder for thieves to crack.
Include numbers, capital letters and symbols. Consider using a $ instead
of an S or a 1 instead of an L, or including an & or % but note that $1ngle is
NOT a good password. Password thieves are onto this. But Mf$1avng (short for
My friend Sam is a very nice guy) is an excellent password.

7. Now, you will be sent to a screen that shows the classroom you
have been asked to be a part of by your teacher. Click Join.

8. Congratulations! You are now a part of our Google Classroom.

Troubleshooting

Make sure you are typing your email address and the password
you were given without capitals.
Make sure you or your teacher did not mistake the letter O for
the number 0.
The 22 comes before the 1, not after.
StudentS! Not student.
Is it not letting you join? Ask your teacher for the passcode to
manually join your classroom.

Help! Im getting bounced back even though I know I put my password
in right.

This is an easy fix, though you may need an adult to help you. Your
browser is getting confused between all the emails and passwords it
know. To fix this, when using Chrome,

1. Under the word, Chrome, hit Preferences.
2. Scroll way down to the blue Show advanced settings Click it!
3. Under Privacy, hint Clear Browsing Data. Check off all of the
boxes.
4. Click Clear Browsing Data. This may take seconds, but it may
take up to four or five minutes.

My Classrooms Google Classroom Rules

Your classroom already has a set of rules, however, when we do our
work online, new issues arise. Below, record the new set of rules
your classroom decides on that apply online. Make sure they are
written in a positive statement.

I, ________________________________, agree to comply with
these Google Classroom rules.

Welcome to your teachers Google Classroom page. The front page

and all of the writing/comments that take up most of the page are
called the Stream. Your teacher will post announcements and
assignments to the Stream.

If you have an assignment that is due soon, it will be under
Upcoming Assignments.

Want to find those assignments, but dont want to scroll? Click the
Hamburger or three little lines that will always be in the top left
corner.

When you click the Hamburger, you will see what classes you are a
part and an option called assignments.

Clicking on assignments gives you a wonderful To-Do list as well
as a Done list.

When I eventually get some grades back, my grades will live under
Done. You do not get a notification when your assignments have
been graded, so keep checking!

Assignments

In the course of Google Classroom, you may be asked to do
assignments in a number of ways. When you go to do an assignment,
you are offered many ways to show your work.

outside website.

can do your homework on your computer and then take it off
your computer and send it to me.

you have already created in the past.

HOMEWORK!

assignment, do not forget to press the blue Turn In button.
Otherwise, your teacher will never see all of your hard work.

Teachers Rights and Responsibilities

Keep in mind!

Your teacher has the right to mute your account, making it
impossible to continue to post on the Stream. Muting will happen in
the case of a student being inappropriate, mean, threatening, or non-
academic on the Google Classroom Stream.

Your teacher also can and will delete posts you make if they are
irrelevant and/or they get old and unneeded.

If you are refusing to comply with our Google Classroom Rules, just
as in our Classroom Rules, disciplinary action will be put in place
and parents will be contacted.
