DEFINITION OF TAWHEED
Tawheed is derived from the Arabic root word
W-h-d’ which serves as the vehicle for the
concept of ‘oneness,’ or ‘unity’, along with the
closely related ideas of ‘singularity’ and
‘uniqueness.’

In the light of Shariah it means to submit or to

confess the Lordship of Allah and to purify
Allah’s names, attributes and any deed
creation and not to associate anything with Him.
The most fundamental
article of faith enjoined
by Almighty Allah is the Unity or
Oneness of Allah. This is
expressed in the primary
of Islam as LA ILAHA ILLA ALLAH
which means that “There’s no God
except Allah”. The expression of
This belief differentiates a true
Muslim from a Kafir (non-believer).
This kalimah plays a significant role
as it affirms the concept of
Tawheed and makes it pure, simple
and free from every conceivable
shadow of Shirk.

EVIDENCES OF TAWHEED IN
HOLY QURAN
“There is nothing whatever like unto Him
and He is the only One that hears and sees
(all things).” [42:11]

“Allah! There is no god but He the Living,

the Self-subsisting, Eternal…” [2:255]
“Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and
Sustainer of the worlds.” [1:2]

“ And your God is One Allah; There’s no god

but He, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.”
[2:163]
“To Him belongeth the rule and to
Him shall Ye be brought back for
judgement.” [28-88]

“Lo! In the creation of the

heavens and the earth and in the
difference of night and day are
tokens (of His sovereignty) for
men of understanding.” [3-190]
HADITH
The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said:
"You are going to a nation from the people of
the Scripture, so let the first thing to which you
will invite them, be the Tawheed of Allah.”

"To worship Him (Allah) Alone and to join none

in worship with Him (Allah).

“Indeed Allah has forbidden for Hell the person

who testifies: ‘There is nothing worthy of
worship in truth (no true God) but Allah.’”
UNIVERSE AND SCIENCE
The universe itself proves the
concept of Tawheed in this
regard Science has proven the
concept of Tawheed by negating
the Big Bang Theory and stating
that there is an ‘unknown’ factor
that is responsible for the
existence of Life and that is
Allah.
Holy Quran announces that
“O, Mankind worship your lord,…..Who has
appointed the earth a resting place for you, the
sky a canopy. And Who causes water to pour
down from the heaven thereby producing fruits as
food for you…….[2:21-22]
WHY TAWHEED IS THE FIRST
PILLAR OF ISLAM
BECAUSE……
< It is the essence of Islam.
<Salvation is not possible without
Tawheed.
<The other 4 pillars of Islam are
based on the concept of Tawheed.
<Tawheed is the fundamental article
of Islam on the basis of which all
principles and rules are formed.
WHAT MAKES HIM “ALLAH- THE
ONLY ONE” ?
 He possess the Glory of being ONE. (Al-Wahid)
 He is the ONLY creator to be worshipped.(Al-
Khaliq)
 There is NO ONE else unto whom bowing down in
prayers is justified.(Mabood)
 He is the one who from whom we seek help. (Al-
Naseer)
 He is the ONE who knows everything. (Al-Aleem)
 He’s the ONE who forgives. (Al-Ghafar)
AND A LOT MORE THAT NO ONE ELSE CAN
COUNT
 If there was partner of God, it would have
created disturbance in Universe.
 Partnership is a defect of God, that
cannot be in God.
 All Messengers of God (Prophets) are
from one God. They all said that He is
one. If there were other god, then he
must have sent his messengers.
 If we suppose two gods, then one of
them will be able to remove other or not.
If first is able to remove other, then the
second is not god. If first is not able to
remove other, then he cannot be god.
 God told his Prophets that He is one. If
He tell them a lie, then lie is a defect,
defect cannot be in God.
NAMES OF ALLAH
DOES ANY HUMAN
BEING HAVE THESE
ATTRIBUTES?
CERTAINLY,NO
BUT……
HE HAS THE POTENTIALS TO
IMPLEMENT THEM IN HIS LIFE
AND THAT IS WHAT WE CALL THE
IMPACT OF TAWHEED ON
HUMAN’S LIFE
The concept of Tawheed has a
great influence on a person’s life
and this influence is not only
restricted to one’s individual life
but also to one’s social life.
IMPACT ON ONE’S INDIVIDUAL
LIFE
1- ENLARGED VISION
A believer of Tawheed can never be narrow in
outlook. He believes in a God, Who is the Creator of
the heavens and the earth, the Master of the East
and the West and Sustainer of the entire universe.
After this belief he does not regard anything in the
world as a stranger to himself. He looks on
everything in the universe as belonging to the same
Lord he himself belongs to. His sympathy, love and
service are not confined to any particular sphere or
group. His vision is enlarged, his intellectual horizon
widens, and his outlook becomes as liberal and as
boundless as is the Kingdom of God.
2- HIGHEST DEGREE OF SELF-ESTEEM
This belief produces in man the highest
degree of self-respect and self-esteem. The
believer knows that Allah alone is the
Possessor of all power, and that none
besides Him can benefit or harm a person,
or provide for his needs, or give and take
away life or wield authority or influence. This
conviction makes him indifferent to, and
independent and fearless of, all powers
other than those of God. He never bows his
head in homage to any of God’s creatures,
nor does he stretch out his hand before
anyone else.
3- SENSE OF MODESTY
This belief also generates in man a
sense of modesty and humbleness.A
believer never becomes proud,
haughty or arrogant. The boisterous
pride of power, wealth and worth can
have no room in his heart, because he
knows that whatever he possesses
has been given to him by God, and
that God can take away just as He can
give.
4- PIETY AND RIGHTEOUSNESS
This belief makes man virtuous and upright.
He has the conviction that there is no other
means of success and salvation for him
except purity of soul and righteousness of
behavior. He has perfect faith in God Who is
above all. This belief creates in him the
consciousness that, unless he lives rightly
and acts justly, he cannot succeed. No
influence or underhand activity can save him
from ruin.
5- HOPE AND SATISFACTION
The believer never becomes despondent. He
has a firm faith in God Who is Master of all
the treasures of the earth and the heavens,
Whose grace and bounty have no limit and
Whose powers are infinite. This faith imparts
to his heart extraordinary consolation, fills it
with satisfaction and keeps it filled with
hope. Although he may meet with rejection
from all sides in this world, faith in and
dependence on God never leave him, and
on their strength he goes on struggling.
Such profound confidence can result from
no other belief than belief in one God.
6- DETERMINATION AND PATIENCE
This belief produces in man a very strong
degree of determination, patience and trust
in God. When he makes up his mind and
devotes his resources to fulfilling the Divine
Commands in order to secure God’s
pleasure, he is sure that he has the support
and backing of the Lord of the universe. This
certainty makes him firm and strong like a
mountain, and no amount of difficulties,
impediments and opposition can make him
give up his resolution.
7- COURAGE AND VALOUR
This declaration inspires bravery in man. There are
two things which make a man coward (i) fear of
death and love of safety, and (ii) the idea that there
is someone else besides God who can take away
life . Belief in La ilaha illa Allah purges the mind of
both these ideas. The first idea goes out of his mind
because he knows that his life and his property and
everything else really belong to God, and he
becomes ready to sacrifice his all things for His
pleasure. He gets rid of the second idea because he
knows that no weapon, no man or animal has the
power of taking away his life; except Allah. Hence a
person has no more fear and he becomes
courageous.
8- OBEDIENCE
The most important effect of La ilaha illa Allah is
that it makes man obey and observe God’s Law.
One who has belief in it is sure that God knows
everything hidden or open and is nearer to him
than his own jugular vein. If he commits a sin in a
secluded corner and in the darkness of the night,
He knows it; He even knows our thoughts and
intentions, bad or good. We can hide from
everyone, but we cannot hide anything from God;
we can evade everyone, but it is impossible to
evade God’s grip. The firmer a man’s belief is in
this respect, the more observant will he be of
God’s commands; he will shun what God has
forbidden and he will carry out His behest even in
solitude and in darkness, because he knows that
God’s ‘police’ never leaves him alone, and he
dreads the Court whose warrant he can never
avoid.
9- END OF EVIL INTENTIONS
The belief in La ilaha illallah creates an attitude of
peace and contentment, purges the mind of
jealousy, envy and greed and keeps away the
temptations of resorting to base and unfair means
for achieving success. The believer understands
that wealth is in God’s hands, and He apportions it
out as He likes; that honour, power, reputation and
authority - everything - is subjected to His will, and
He bestows them as He will; and that man’s duty is
only to endeavour and to struggle fairly. He knows
that success and failure depend on God’s grace; if
He wills to give, no power in the world can prevent
Him from so doing; and if He does not will it, no
power can force Him to.
IMPACT ON ONE’S SOCIAL LIFE

Human lives in a society and in that society

Tawheed is the foundation of brotherhood
and equality, because it does not permit
following those who take others as lords
besides Allah, since worship is for Allah
alone and worship to Allah alone must be
from all of mankind, and the head of them is
Muhammad (PBUH) His Messenger and His
chosen one.
WHAT IF ONE DENYS
TAWHEED?
THEN HE IS
DOING
SHIRK
WHAT BASICALLY
A SHIRK IS ?
 Associating partners with Allah is called
Shirk.
 Shirk is worshipping Idols and offering
prayers and supplications to anyone
except Allah.
 To implore any other being besides Allah,
to grant any wishes or answer prayers is
also Shirk.
 The Holy Quran says:
 “Allah forgives not that partners should
be set up with Him.” [4:48]
 The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said:
 “Shirk is the greatest of all sins.”
FOR THOSE WHO DO SHIRK
QURAN SAYS:
“If there were God beside Allah
then verily both (the heaven and
the earth) had been disordered.
Glorified be Allah, the Lord of the
Throne, from all that they ascribe
(unto Him).” [21-22]
SO WHAT’S THE
RESULT OF IT
DISSATISFACTION......
CONFUSION……..
PUZZLEMENT…..
DON’T KNOW WHERE TO
APPROACH….HOW TO
APPROACH……
WHERE THERE IS TAWHEED
THERE IS NUMBER
HAVE YOU EVER
OBSERVED AND THOUGHT
ABOUT IT?
1 SIGNIFIES……
1 HEART that purifies the blood
1 BRAIN that controls the whole
body
1 SOUL which is within us
1 PATH that is Sirat-e-Mustaqeem
1 means a Perfect lordship
Life and death occur once
All countings start from 1……
MESSAGE FOR YOUR SOUL
La ilaha illa Allah Lord of the earth and the sky
(There is no god but Allah) Lord the mountains so high
He created the plants and trees Lord of the day and the night
He created the birds and bees Lord of joy and delight
He created the oceans and seas
Some of His many bounties
He made us on earth trustees
To obey all His decrees
Oh Allah have mercy please,
Clean away our hearts’ disease
La ilaha illa Allah
(There is no god but Allah)
He created the plants and trees
He created the birds and bees
He created the oceans and seas
Some of His many bounties
He made us on earth trustees
To obey all His decrees
Oh Allah have mercy please,
Clean away our hearts’ disease
CONCLUSION
Tawheed holds a significant position in Islam
and it’s the only thing which makes a
Muslim, a True Muslim.Tawheed is the basic
article of faith which covers all the
dimensions of religion Islam i.e.
doctrinal,emotional,practical etc. Thus, it’s a
Muslim’s duty that he should not merely
accept this belief but also act upon it.
