TEACHING STRATEGIES PLAN

Poster Group Work (In Class Activity)

NAME OF LEARNING
ACTIVITY
Learning Activity
Summary

Students will engage in a group to create a poster about health

promotion and wellness. There will be three groups, (variable
depending on classroom size), and each group will construct a
quick brainstormed poster depicting what they believe the
definition of health and wellness to be and how health
promotion fits into health assessment. They will list ideas to
implement the incorporation of health promotion into health
assessment. Each group will then share the poster with the
class for a larger class discussion about nurses role in health
and wellness. Also discussed will be how nurses are now taking
health promotion to the next level with services in the
community and the home.

by Teacher/Facilitator and the students. This will ensure no points are missed, and in the
Materials Needed
future the teacher can add other points that the student came
up with to his or her list to share with other classes. The

facilitator should ensure there are certain points mapped out

that must be covered. Supplies required include poster paper
and markers.

health and wellness are implemented into a holistic health
assessment. The previous knowledge will be built upon to
transition to new knowledge applicable to nursing.

Teacher Reflection

This activity fits with end of class outcome objective number

one, which states that by the end of class the learner will be
(justify choice of learning able to express an understanding of ways to implement health
activity and good fit for promotion into holistic health assessment as evidence by group
the identified learning work and constructing a poster to share with the class. This
type of activity appeals to different learning styles and ensures
objectives)
participation by all.
